Personally, not being interested enough in fishing to want to do it, I found the sections on fishing technique a little dry. In this five-part series, US happiness expert and positive psychologist Michelle Gielan and British journalist and author Oliver Burkeman explore ways to become truly happier, backed up by scientific evidence. Best-selling author Mark Manson brings his signature no-nonsense wisdom back to the subject he started his career covering: relationships. I love Bob Mortimer too, and though I have the same reservations about you about fishing, we gave this programme a go. He's got his nose buried in the book and keeps sniggering and laughing out loud, so I guess that's a good sign.Access to the Plus Catalogue—thousands of Audible Originals, audiobooks and podcasts, including exclusive series. The taverna is the only place that Kostas and Defne can meet in secret, hidden beneath the blackened beams from which hang garlands of garlic and chilli peppers, creeping honeysuckle, and in the centre, growing through a cavity in the roof, a fig tree.

The people of Japan believe that everyone has an ikigai - a reason for being; the thing that gets you out of bed each morning. I don't like fishing but this is a lovely listen to two good friends who happen to be funny, warm and entertaining, even when the technical fishing instructions appear (not lot of them).

Owing to greater familiarity with the author's spoken voice from TV/podcasts, as I read this charming accompaniment to 'Gone Fishing' I did so, not in mine but in their voices. You don’t need to have watched it to enjoy the book (although I hope you do watch it, it’s quite the antidote to much of the rubbish on the box). And according to the residents of the Japanese island of Okinawa - the world's longest-living people - finding it is the key to a longer and more fulfilled life. The planning of where to go, what I might see, whether the light would be good, what sort of photographs I might end up capturing has echoes in how Bob prepares for and thinks about a fishing trip. Even with the modern practice of catch and release, it’s the thought of the stress a poor creature that’s only trying to live its best life endures when it’s hooked and reeled in that turns me off from fishing.

There she is given the chance to undo her regrets and try out each of the other lives she might have lived. For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. These trips ticked all those boxes, so they came up with the idea of making a television series, with the two of them ruminating on a riverbank about the meaning of life and the universe whilst trying to catch fish. For the first time, Andrew Ridgeley - one half of one of the most famous bands in the world - tells the inside story of Wham! These youthful adventures, being close to his dad, awoke in Paul a love of the beauty of Britain and its wildlife.Just opened this product and there are pages ripped in the book, this was a little birthday present for someone, now I can't give it to them with ripped pages and can't get another one in time, this damaged book shouldn't have been sent out very disappointed. In each episode comedians, Bob Mortimer (portly, unskilled) and Paul Whitehouse (slender, highly skilled) spend a couple of days by the river in pursuit of that week's target fish. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. In the absolutely packed Act II, the dark fantasy resumes and the Sandman expands into the French Revolution, ancient Rome, 19th-century San Francisco, eighth-century Baghdad, and beyond.

In this wonderful book, the two fishermen collaborate to celebrate the rich tapestry that is fishing – from mentors to memories; from philosophy to modern jargon; from watercraft to becoming self-styled ‘Fishing Detectives’. In this wonderful book, the two fishermen collaborate to celebrate the rich tapestry that is fishing - from mentors to memories; from philosophy to modern jargon; from watercraft to becoming self-styled 'Fishing Detectives'. In comparison, Bob Mortimer (and Adam Buxton) seems to be less filtered, his instinct more on the side of silliness than whether he is doing the clever thing.Vic would be prancing around, being the star, and Bob would interject pure silliness with no fandango. On the fish, the equipment, the food, and the locations, Gone Fishing is the perfect book for fans of Bob Mortimer, Paul Whitehouse and for anyone who wants to read a brilliantly written and endlessly funny joint memoir on life, friendship and joys of fishing. She didn’t have long left at that time, and when something like this happens, you realise you have to drink from it while you can. So if you want to know the difference between a waggler and a quill (types of float), or Quantum Radical and Dynamite Crave (types of synthetic bait), then this book will help. In Love Is Not Enough, Mark’s first Audible Original, you’ll follow five real people over the course of six months as they navigate f--ked up romantic situations, ranging from dating app addiction to marital affairs to absurd fantasies.
