Turn off your mind, relax, and let the absurdity reign with this gory dark comedy, which looks and sounds great on Blu-ray. Set in 1985 and based on a true story, Cocaine Bear begins with a drug kingpin throwing sports bags full of cocaine from an aircraft, with the aim of doing a deal with gangster Syd White (Ray Liotta, in one of his final roles) once he has leapt from the plane and opened his parachute. Unfortunately for him, his exit goes a bit wrong when he leaps and bags his head, sending him careering to the ground at a rapid pace and not being able to collect his drugs. definitely more of a fine tuning than it is a complete overhaul, no surprise considering that the Blu-ray was awarded a perfect core for its 1080p Cocaine Bear comes with an English DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 mix that is downmixed to 5.1 on my configuration. First time buyers Though not a fault of the transfer, the CGI effects (particularly the bear) are a bit sketchy. After all, there's no way to hide budget effects in a 1080p transfer. So should fans just wait for the inevitable 4K release from Universal now? Is that what they’re thinking we want? All Roads Lead to Cokey: The Making of Cocaine Bear– Meet the hilarious ensemble brought together to bring the movie of what is soon to be the world’s most famous bear to life. While I usually don't upvote the guy who says "not buying this", I had to give it to dougkuhn because this is what happens when studios screw their customers. The number of people who double dip is low, and the number of people who get pissed is high. While the official reason is "we're trying to see what's popular enough to sell on 4K", they know and we know that's bullshit. The real reason is they want to make more money. Elsewhere in the woods, two kids - Dee Dee (Brooklynn Prince) and her pal Henry (Christian Convery) – have skipped school so that they could go paint. They come across the cocaine and try it out, and soon enough Dee Dee is missing and Henry is literally up a tree. Liz and a bear expert Peter (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) come across them, but it doesn’t go well. When Dee Dee’s mom , Sari (Kari Russell), realizes her daughter has skipped class, she heads out to look for her.

Detail is absolutely razor sharp, with the expected fine lines of clothing and skin textures all present and correct and nestling nicely alongside the pristine edges of the various locations and sets used throughout. Patterns from start to finish – be they intricate clothing designs or simply the foliage of the beautiful and lush scenery – are clearly distinct and look thoroughly natural. Maybe not quite best in class as say something like The Matrix Resurrections, but very good nonetheless. These are further unhindered by the pristine image source – no pesky grain to obscure any of the fine detail underneath.
