Description

If you are someone who prefers Android, has a lavish budget and prefers large displays over compact form factors, then the S22 Ultra is certainly a no-brainer among the 2022 models. Featuring an almost undeniably beautiful design, the S22 Ultra comes with a 6.8-inch AMOLED display, running at 3088 x 1440 pixel resolution and resulting in a 500 per-pixel-inch clarity. With a dynamic refresh rate that goes from 1Hz all the way up to 120Hz, it offers fantastic functionality and vivid colours with everything you may possibly do on the phone. With the peak brightness of 1750 nits and Samsung's Vision Booster technology, the display performs great even under direct sunlight and stays comfortably bright whenever you may need it. Moreover, there is an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner placed on the bottom half of it and said to be quite secure. Cameras: No More Contour Cut Galaxy S22+ comes with sleek yet sturdy Armour Aluminium frame that offers tough drop and scratch resistance. Its front is equipped with tough Gorilla® Glass Victus+ for an expansive, balanced display. As you may already know, the UK models feature a different chipset than the American and Chinese models in the name of Exynos 2200 rather than Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Both series of chipsets are developed by Samsung, but there can sometimes be slight differences in performance between them. Regardless, Samsung promises up to 5% better processing performance for routine tasks whereas the graphics performance has seen a 40% bump and, impressively, the neural processing unit's performance gains are around an astounding 130%. This means the phone will certainly perform better than S21 and it will be significantly smarter in many cases like battery management. Battery Capacity: Could Have Been Better

As expected, the performance is top-notch across the board thanks to the Exynos 2200 chipset and 8GB of RAM. It's no better than Apple's A15 Bionic, but it keeps things more than buttery-smooth and snappy in all tasks and apps you could think of. The graphics performance here alone makes the S22 Ultra also a fantastic gaming phone - it handles games with no hiccups. The 5,000mAh battery here offers a day of usage on a full charge with fast charging as well as wireless charging support, but nothing more than that. We wish it lasted for more than that but a full day is still okay. We also noticed that there are some heat-related issues when performing demanding tasks, so beware of that as well. S22 Ultra: Price UK HDR, Panorama, Stereo Recording, Bokeh Mode, AI Features, Night Mode, Scene Detection, Slow Motion, Time LapseProximity Sensor, Hall Effect Sensor, Light Sensor, Gyroscope Sensor, Accelerometer (G-Sensor), Magnetometer, Barometer, Fingerprint Sensor Overall, if you like Samsung and Android together, this is an affordable and familiar (we see you, Galaxy S21) way to get in at the top of the Galaxy line, making it one of the best Samsung phones and even one of the best Android phones. For those who want a 5G Samsung Galaxy but want to pay hundreds less, they should look at the Galaxy A Series, including the attractive Galaxy A53. None of this is to say the Galaxy S22 feels slow. It has more than enough power for casual mobile tasks (web browsing, app work) and extra juice for videos, games, 4K video shooting, and editing. The 8K video shoot was a stuttering disaster, but otherwise, we were pleased. Galaxy S22+ has a mighty 4,500mAh3 battery. It’s so long-lasting that you can go about your day and leave the charger behind. And when you do need a boost, 45W Super Fast Charging 2.04 capability gets you all-day battery in around 20 minutes. Samsung’s new lightning-fast 4nm Exynos 2200 processor is not only the fastest chip ever on a Galaxy smartphone, but it sets a new world record too. With this unbelievable PC-like power. Wi-Fi 6E and 5G2 connectivity gives you faster, more consistent speeds, meaning streaming is simply effortless. With More than 24 hours of battery to keep you going.

The Galaxy S22+ comes with an incredible viewing experience to match your ultimate video device. It has a 6.6" Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with unbelievable brightness. You’ll be able to binge-watch your latest boxset in the park without the sunlight spoiling your view and with a 24Hz - 120Hz Adaptive Refresh Rate, scrolling through your socials is smoother than ever. The camera app includes a rather deep set of shooting modes and controls, many of them hidden under ‘More’ (typical of an Android phone). There's Pro mode, for instance, which gives you control over shutter speed, ISO (film speed in old-school camera-speak), focus point, and white balance. It's not clear why Samsung shrunk the Galaxy S22's battery down by 300mAh, from a capacity of 4,000mAh on the S21 to 3,700mAh here, but it doesn't appear to have much of an impact. We got roughly 12 hours of battery life with varied and almost constant use. When it comes to the videos, 4K-60 FPS recording is here in addition to the fantastically sharp and cinematic 8K-24 FPS mode. The auto-framing feature isn't all that well refined, but the ability to pause the recording to continue recording a bit later is a great feature. Performance and Battery Life When it comes to stills, the 50MP wide camera automatically adjusts exposure, Optical Image Stabilisation keeps your shot steady, and Adaptive Pixel technology uses the Wide lens to capture the most detailed photos on a Galaxy. Your footage will look cinematic in the glorious 12bit HDR. While the cameras of the Galaxy S22 are slightly better overall, there are some interesting things to note here as not the entire module is an upgrade over the previous model and there are some unexpected downgrades with some sensors. The overall sensor design is superior in the S22, which is always great to see - the main lens goes from 12 MP to 50 MP too. But then the telephoto lens goes from 64 MP to 10 MP for some unknown reason. At least the optical zoom is now bumped up to 1.3x here from 1.1x. We know that megapixels aren't everything, but it's still a huge drop in photo resolution. Still, the overall photo quality is very satisfying. For their enthusiasts, the Single Take and Dual View modes are still here too.
