The process is simple and takes only a minute or two to complete. You can finally type like a pro in the dark. If a switch is damaged, or you just want to update your fittings, it's quite simple to replace it. Just make sure you write down exactly how the old switch was wired before you disconnect it, and wire the new switch in the same way. Also, try and keep hold of your original screws. You may have to re-use them, as modern fittings come with metric-sized screws and older fittings might have imperial threads. Safety first - Earthing light switches Some keyboards have their own specific software or app that can be used to control and customize the settings of your laptop or desktop keyboard. A great example of this is the app used for Razer's laptops and peripherals: Synapse. The Synapse app can be used to customize the lighting effects of your Razer gaming laptop's keyboard or your Razer desktop gaming keyboard. And this can include increasing or decreasing the brightness of your keyboard light or adjusting the settings so that the light stays on or off in sleep mode. These instructions should work for MacBooks with Touch Bars that run MacOS Sonoma, Ventura, Monterey, and Big Sur. Adjust it in Control Center or Windows Mobility Center

For your safety, these products must be installed in accordance with local Building Regulations. If in any doubt, or where required by the law, consult a competent person who is registered with an electrical certification scheme. Further information is available online or from your local authority. Wall-mounted light switch fittings (known as 'plate switches') can contain one, two, three or even more individual switches (or 'gangs') that let you control a number of separate light fittings from one place. You can also get versions that give you two- and multi-way switching which allow you to control lights using two or more different switches, for example in a hallway. It is typically the case with a gaming keyboard with LED lights. If you were in between designing a profile and left it in between, it may have turned off the lights. You can figure it if some of the keys that have lights while others don’t. Never take risks with electrical safety. Before you start any type of electrical work, you must follow these following safety precautions:Some keyboards, like the Logitech G Pro desktop keyboard, will actually have a dedicated button that you can press to toggle the keyboard light on or off. In the case of the Logitech G Pro, you'll want to look for a button stamped with a sun icon with rays in the upper-right corner of the keyboard. Using the Increase/decrease brightness buttons should work for certain models of Macs that run macOS Sonoma, Ventura, High Sierra, Mojave, Catalina, Big Sur, or Monterey. LED keyboards have a different concept. If you fancy colorful lights that keep changing based on what you use, or you want to design your idea, then they fit well. I am using the Corsair LED keyboard, and I can choose a color for individual keys using their software.

You may need to update the BIOS to the latest version, or its settings aren't configured correctly. If you decide to update the BIOS to the latest version or reconfigure its settings, be sure to follow your device manufacturer's specific instructions for doing so. Depending on the manufacturer and model of your device, you might be able to turn on and adjust the keyboard light via your PC's control panel menu. Sometimes the OEMs offer special software for their keyboard, especially those who allow you remap keys for gaming. This software can also turn off the lights, and even if you press the hardware, nothing will happen. So if there is any such software, and you had changed it, undo it.Asus users will be able to tell the functions based on the symbols on the keys. If there are no light symbols anywhere on the keyboard, the laptop is not equipped with this function. I have gone through some of the OEMs manuals, and some also recommend to update BIOS. It is useful if the keys with the illumination icon do not work as expected or are disabled from the BIOS. It will have similar options- In the case of Apple keyboard, even if set the maximum level of brightness, the keyboard doesn’t light up, but in the case of HP or Dell, you can force it to turn on. Remember, this will depend on OEMs, but everyone will offer a unique key that can manage this.

There's a huge range of fittings available - from functional plastic to stylish metallic finishes. Dimmers let you to raise and lower the light level - and may have a combined or separate on/off and dimming control, so you don't have to readjust the light level every time you turn on the light. They're wired in much the same way as a standard switch. Switches generally need a 16mm-deep mounting box - although some dimmers may need deeper boxes. Where your space is limited, or if you want a switch to be unobtrusive, you can fit narrow architrave switches into your door frames. There are three key things you'll need to do if you want to change from one-way control of a light to two-way switching. Firstly, you must replace the original switch with a two-way fitting. Then you'll need to install a new two-way switch at the second control point. And after that, you should link the two with 1mm 2 three-core-and-earth cable. Start by running the cable between the two switch positions and installing a mounting box at the new switch position. Top tip - Multi-way switching However, if it doesn’t light up, then look for a unique key, aka illumination icon on the keyboard (it might be available as a combination with Function keys), which can increase the brightness. Apple offers two sets of keys, while companies like HP use the same keys (F5, F9, or F11 keypress, or a dual-action Fn + F5, F9, or F11 keypress), Dell uses F10, and Lenovo uses Fn + Spacebar.

For certain MacBooks, that means opening Control Center, selecting Keyboard brightness, and then dragging its corresponding slider. This should work for some MacBook models that also run MacOS Monterey or Big Sur.
