Description

Wolf Priests combine the roles of Chaplain and Apothecary within the chapter. They are selected from any part of the chapter but usually from the Long Fangs or Wolf Guard due to the greater wisdom of these marines. Instead of using codex medical equipment, Wolf Priests using healing potions and balms, using knowledge passed down from one Wolf Priest to the next. They are also responsible for the selection of new Aspirants to the chapter, observing the frequent skirmishes among the human inhabitants of Fenris and selecting worthy young men to undergo the trials. Some, he proposed, would join the ranks of the Space Wolves themselves, while others could be used to form new Chapters, furthering the lineage of Leman Russ while adopting the new weapons and doctrines that characterised the Ultima Founding. M41 — The Macharian Crusade. Forces under Ulrik Grimfang participate in the Crusade alongside Solar Macharius while in search for an artifact of Leman Russ. [36] Like their ancestral Chapter, the Wolfspear do not conform to the dictates of the Codex Astartes, but instead make use of many of the same customs and organisational designations as the Space Wolves. Edge of Silence • War Zone Charadon ( Act I • Act II) • War Zone Octarius ( Book I • Book II) • War Zone Nachmund ( Vigilus Alone • Rift War) • Crusade ( Beyond the Veil • Plague Purge • Amidst the Ashes • Containment • Catastrophe • Wars of Faith) • Arks of Omen ( Abaddon • Angron • Vashtorr • Farsight • The Lion)

Great Company ( Tra) — Known as the Eagle's Keepers. Consisted of at least 9,800 Space Marines in Assault Squad and support armor roles. Commanded by Jarl Ogvai Ogvai Helmschrot. Great Wolf: The Chapter Master of the Space Wolves, the Great Wolf is chosen from among the Wolf Lords, and leads his own Great Company. The current Great Wolf is Logan Grimnar who has held the position for the past 700 years. Heimdall Wyrdstorm — was once a Rune Priest, before his injuries in battle had him interred within a Dreadnought. One of the 12 Great Companies is that of the Great Wolf, the Space Wolves' Chapter Master. When the former Great Wolf dies the new chieftain is selected from the other eleven remaining Wolf Lords. Upon selection the new Great Wolf, not his Great Company, immediately takes on the ancient badge of Leman Russ — the Wolf That Stalks Between Stars. With the new role the Great Wolf's Company is also expanded to include the household of the Chapter's Priesthood, Wolf Scouts, and Dreadnoughts. [8e] In the Age of the Dark Imperium the Space Wolves operate Wulfen Dreadnoughts and Redemptor Dreadnoughts alongside their older suits. [45d] Recruitment Amongst the Wolfspear and most other Ultima Founding successors of the Space Wolves, there are a select few who possess tempestuous psychic abilities. Like the Rune Priests of Fenris, these powerful Astartes battle- psykers wield their mental might to aid their brothers and call down ruinous storms upon their foes.

The Space Wolves’ Primarch was Leman Russ – the Wolf King, Emperor’s Executioner, and many other titles. We have a whole guidedevoted to singing the saga of Leman Russ! Wolf Guards are the personal retinue and bodyguard of the Wolf Lord commanding the Great Company, roughly equivalent to the Veterans or Command Squad units used by other chapters. Wolf Guards are often the most senior and experienced Space Wolves in the chapter, though a younger Wolf may win elevation to the Wolf Guard by performing an act of exceptional valour. Wolf Guards are often granted Terminator Honours, though they make less use of them than the Veterans of other chapters. [8c]Armoury of the Fang: profiles for all weapons and wargear of the Space Wolves, ranged and close-combat Each Index also needs the full Space Marines faction Index to operate, as they all benefit from the Oaths of Moment army rule and can deploy most of the same core troops and vehicles. Each Chapter also includes a unique Detachment, granting a characterful rule plus bespoke Enhancements and Stratagems to spruce up your Space Marine army. The Wolfspear are proud genetic sons of the Primarch Leman Russ, and feel a strong sense of kinship with all who share the Wolf King's genetic legacy. Like their forefather, they exhibit the keen senses and instinctive aggression of born hunters, and though they rarely show the fiery emotions that mark out many of their kin, the Wolfspear's struggle to contain their inner beast is no less intense. Like their illustrious forebears, the Wolfspear flout thetenets of the Codex Astartes, ignoring Codex-approved insignia in favour of their own tribal markings and heraldry.

After the Heresy Leman Russ was infuriated for not being at the Siege of Terra to aid the Emperor. He personally led a force into the Eye of Terror in the hopes of revenge. [8k] Eventually Russ disappeared altogether, pledging to return in the final battle of the "Wolf Time". Leman Russ then vanished and the true whereabouts of the Primarch remains a mystery. Many within the Chapter maintain that Russ has sought out the fabled Tree of Life in a bid to heal the Emperor. [26] Apparently Magnus the Red knows, but the Daemon Primarch and his Thousand Sons are not sharing that information with any outside their traitorous ranks. [2a]Ultramarines • White Scars • Iron Hands • Raven Guard • Salamanders • Imperial Fists • Silver Templars Not by chance was the Chapter's name chosen. The Wolf Lords of Fenris had agreed that a force should be formed that could be cast like a javelin deep into the Imperium Nihilus and other forsaken reaches, ranging far ahead of the war zones prioritised by the Indomitus Crusade fleets. M41 — The Red Waaagh!, the Space Wolves under Logan Grimnar arrive to aid Alaric Prime from Ork invasion. The Astartes of the Wolfspear were not happy with being placed permanently on garrison duty, hoping to remain on the frontlines of battle, as befit true sons of Leman Russ.

Dreadnoughts/Walkers ( Castaferrum, Venerable, Wulfen, Redemptor, Contemptor, Invictor Tactical Warsuits) Aeska Brokenlip — Jarl of Tra after the Second Founding, [38a] previously Wolf Guard to Ogvai Ogvai Helmschrot [38b] Amongst these warriors, those of a similar disposition found further common ground, forming bonds that endured within the Space Wolves' Successor Chapters. Hence many of the psychically-inclined amongst them became the nucleus of the esoteric Icefangs Chapter, while the grim-faced huntsmen who preyed from the shadows found a natural home in the Wolfspear. M32 — The War of the Beast. As the Chapter battle the Orks across the Galaxy, a Space Wolves force under Wolf Lord Asger arrived on Terra for an offensive against Ullanor. [31]The Space Wolves are also potent close combat specialists, but trade the refined grace of the Blood Angels for savage barbarian assaults and potent mysticism . All in the name of the Emperor, of course – no need to call the Inquisitor. Like their parent Chapter, the Wolfspear place great importance in tradition, and the ancient practice of oathmaking is central to their culture. As the Chapter's saga grows more lengthy with each passing battle, the deeds of their fallen heroes weigh heavier upon those that still live -- valorous acts must be honoured with yet greater heroism, and the slain must be avenged. Close Support Squads ( Bloodclaws, Assault Intercessors, Swiftclaws, Skyclaws, Inceptors, Reivers/ Hounds of Morkai, Incursors, Wulfen Fenrisian Wolves) Great Company ( Twa) — Known as the Thread Cutters. Consisted of at least 800 Veterans and 60 Dreadnoughts. Commanded by Jarl Holmi Longganger.
