It was safely packaged and the seller communicated really well, with thoughtful and informative messages, highly recommended! A heat rock is the common name for a type of heating source in enclosures for cold-blooded animals to supply heat, in the form of a false novelty rock plugged into an electrical socket. A 12" section of pantleg with one end sewn shut lives in my sleeping bag just for the purpose of holding a hot rock. This is assuming that the good(s) are unused, in the original packaging, and in the original resaleable condition. Zoo Med Rock Heaters are made of a hydrated rock material that is twice as strong as cement or pumice, resulting in excellent conductivity and increased product longevity.

I did the same for my wife the first time taking her winter camping to ease her transition and she stayed pretty warm as well, even though she is the type of person that is always cold. Near-boiling water probably works better than jackpine logs, but a Ø6" chunk of hardwood a foot and a half long no doubt has more mass than a 32oz Nalgene (a log that size is probably overkill anyway, but you get the point). The heating stone is an excellent heat point for all reptiles thanks to its unique Nichrome heating element.

I burned a BUNCH of brush, oak, maple, hickory, and cedar on top of a big flat rock on my property Saturday. As for the bottled water, I've had good success with that, even though the density isn't there, water is one of the best retainers of heat, which is why lakes can take so long to freeze in winter. I have poor circulation in my feet, and I have trouble falling asleep when my feet are cold (even at home).

Actually, I've probably used logs more often than rocks, simply because the area I've done the most camping in is sandy and without a lot of right-sized rocks available. I've been checkin every day with the thermal, and even this morning, 5 days later, it's STILL holdin quite a bit of heat ! When I was a kid in the 1950's we would set bricks on the woos stove before bed then wrap them in a towel and put them in the foot of the bed to keep our feet warm. Usually once you get them warm they stay warm as well, almost like you need to jumpstart the circulation or something. These heaters are fully submersible and feature a continuous titanium jacket, thanks to the newly designed internal earth connection. Der ZooMed Heating stone is the ideal heating element if you want to create a warmer place for your pet in the terrarium.

Not sure if my logic is flawed or not, but I was wondering if a rock would still exploded if you heated it by submerging in water and getting the water to a hot temperature for a long period of time but never getting the water it's submerged in hot enough to boil. Various reptiles, including nocturnal, use this form of conductive heat for thermoregulation which is important for metabolism and digestion. It does help to turn them while heating, and not chose one that's been part of the fire ring all evening. When I wake up in the middle of the night and the log has gotten cold, I'll just kick it out of the bag and zip back up again.

Actually I got water to the verge of boiling, put it in a good hefty nalgene bottle, put that in a wool sock and put it down by my feet in my sleeping bag. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. It turns a sauna bath into a pleasurable experience and adds a touch of traditional sauna atmosphere.
