I am a cooking show junkie and I have always enjoyed Ryan Scott’s flair for making ordinary food exciting. This book has quite a few recipes that will become instant hits and there are quite a few that I am excited to try. The recipes include: I absolutely was waiting for this book and I am a huge fan of Top Chef and contestants like Ryan Scott were definitely the most memorable and I remember his out of the box dishes he presented and how talented he is. I remember him saying that in his parent's restaurant, his father fired two cooks in the first week because he outcooked them at 11 years old. So I expected nothing but the best in this cookbook and now he is a family man, I was blown away at how easy he made these recipes and how fun they are to do with children (his daughter Olive is adorable). I can't wait to try the PB&J Pancakes, The no knead English Muffins and the buttermilk biscuits with almost no sugar jam. I know this will be a hit with our Cooking Demo and I can't wait to share it with our library. community. Take one whole cod fillet, dip it in the egg and then roll in the Panko breadcrumb mixture until it is fully coated. Repeat with the remaining two cod fillets. crumpets | 2 medium eggs | 100ml semi-skimmed milk | 1 tbsp honey | 1 tsp vanilla extract | 1 tbsp butter Pour this mixture into a large frying pan or shallow casserole dish on the hob and simmer on low for 5 minutes.

Each of the recipes includes an introductory description, ingredients listed in a bullet point sidebar (US measurements only), and step by step instructions. Nutritional info is not included. I believe all of the recipes are accompanied by photographs. The photos provided are high quality and clear and serving suggestions are attractive and appropriate. This is definitely a beautifully photographed cookbook. Celebrity chef, Ryan Scott, is the author of The No-Fuss Family Cookbook: Simple Recipes for Everyday Life, a cookbook filled with fairly simple recipes that are suitable for families. This cookbook has all the elements of an excellent cookbook: easy recipes, ingredients that most of us have in our pantry and freezer, beautiful photographs (mostly of the dishes, but an extra dose of pictures of his daughter; he obviously thinks she’s adorable and more interesting than the food), and notes at the beginning of each recipe that give explanations. fat-free Greek yogurt | 50ml semi-skimmed milk | 50g Lighter than Light mayonnaise | 1 tsp Dijon mustard | 1/2 tsp garlic powder | 50g grated parmesan | salt & pepper The book has a simple layout and there are quite a few images to accompany the recipes. Ryan takes traditional family meals and turns them up a notch with flavour and healthy alternatives. There are also lots of notes included to give readers tips on how to achieve the best results. Affogato & Kiddies’ Affogato from The Fuss Free Cookbook by Ciara Attwell (Lagom) Affogato & Kiddies’ AffogatoAll in all, very well written, beautifully presented food, made from family friendly ingredients which are easily sourced and taste good. Five stars, we'll be revisiting this cookbook. For families with young children or toddlers, this one will be especially welcome. There's a lot of appealing finger and bite sized food here. NOTES: The calories in this dessert will depend on the type of ice cream that you use. If you use a light ice cream the calories will be about 145 calories per portion. Regular ice cream will obviously be more.

‎The Fuss-Free Family Cookbook: No more separate meals for

While I really enjoyed this cookbook and found it to be quite useful, the title might be very misleading to some. The idea of “no-fuss” implies that there are few steps and fast results. These recipes aren’t the fussiest ones that I have come across, but they aren’t as straightforward as I was expecting. Having to toast coconut and slice a banana to decorate the top for a banana bread recipe adds a little more time to my schedule, for sure. STORING: Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Store croutons at room temperature (they will go soft if left in the salad). Make the sauce by mixing the yogurt, mayonnaise, tartar sauce and garlic powder together in a bowl. Some of the recipes are a bit complex and take longer for non-experienced cooks to make than listed in the recipes. Directions are easy to follow and start with a paragraph or two about why they developed the recipe.
