I also found it strange that some of the illustrations didn't match up with the descriptions. One I remember off the top of my head was the picture of the real estate agent's sign which described the woman having a toothy grin. In the illustration her mouth was closed. Why bother with illustrations if they aren't going to match the story? That was very weird, and also lazy.

Simon was born on October 25, 1967, to writers Dyanne Asimow and Roger L. Simon. [note 1] [2] He was born in Los Angeles County, California. [4] His brother, Jesse, is a visual artist. [2] He also has significantly younger half-sister, Madeleine, from his father's third marriage. [5] A: There is a not-so-secret secret pattern to the Secret Series. Each book concerns one of the five senses. Book 1, THE NAME OF THIS BOOK IS SECRET, features a box of scented vials called the Symphony of Smells, and it concerns the sense of smell. Book 2, IF YOU'RE READING THIS IT'S TOO LATE, features a magical ball of sound called the Sound Prism, and it concerns hearing. My new book, THIS BOOK IS NOT GOOD FOR YOU, has the Tuning Fork and concerns taste--in particular the taste of chocolate. Book 4 I just finished writing and I don't want to give too much away. But it's going to be called THIS ISN'T WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE and it concerns the sense of sight obviously. That leaves, you guessed it, touch for Book 5. The way author tells the story is also funny. Throughout the book he uses as "fun tone" and always leaves some side comments here and there about the main characters. Also you will find that there are some kind of footnotes and appendix the helps the story and provides additional information towards some topics.the writing style was the strongest point, best & the fun part. it started so mysteriously that just made me more intrigued only because of the style! (the story hadn't begun then!) A: CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, naturally. (There are some who say I stole the idea of writing a book about chocolate from Roald Dahl; I prefer to call his book an inspiration.) Another favourite is THE EGYPTIAN BOOK OF THE DEAD. I refer to it constantly.

Ms. Mauvais and Dr. L, the antagonists of the novel, are members of the Midnight Sun, a society devoted to finding the Secret in the hopes of gaining eternal life. Once they find out Cass and Max-Ernest have his notebook, they are willing to go to any lengths to take it from them. It is revealed that Dr. L is Pietro Bergamo's twin brother. He is described as tall with silver hair, tanned skin, and white teeth. Ms. Mauvais's attributes resemble those of a Barbie doll: big eyes, a tiny waist, stylish blonde hair, and gold jewelry. Thus, Pietro refers to her as the Golden Lady; he also notes her icy voice. Ms. Mauvais and Dr. L are much older than they look; they wear long gloves to hide their wrinkled skin, which only appears on their hands. She doesn’t play games involving fortune telling or jump rope or strings of any kind. She doesn’t even watch television very often. She doesn’t own a single pair of soft suede boots lined with fleece. She wouldn’t even want a pair, unless they were waterproof and could protect her in a snowstorm. E poi oh, chi l'ha detto che un libro classificato "per ragazzi" debba essere esclusivamente per ragazzi? La letteratura per giovani lettori secondo me nasconde tante di quelle perle spesso sottavalutate..!! Simon, Raphael (September 5, 2021). "Written Up: A Personal History". Los Angeles Review of Books. Archived from the original on September 5, 2021 . Retrieved September 7, 2021. On top of that, this book was edited poorly. There were missing words all over the place, and not intentionally. I would imagine this would frustrate children as well. The footnotes were also a strange idea, and I felt half the time that I was being talked down to - and I'm not even the intended audience!Amber is Cass's classmate, often called the nicest girl in school and third prettiest; however, she is often shown to be snooty and gossipy. She is a fan of the Skelton Sisters and a consumer of their lip balm line, Smoochies. She receives a new flavor each week and gives the old one away, often to Cass. I recommend it if you still can enjoy Middle Grades & their silliness & fun & have an inner child. cheers!
