While laptops are convenient to use and easy to transport, there are certain functions like video editing, 3D rendering, and, of course, gaming that can require the raw power of a desktop. But how can one expect to travel with a desktop in a reasonable manner? Because of this and its standard ATX size, it’s easy to fit all sorts of parts into this PC case. As far as looks go, the HAF XB Evo is nothing special. One could even argue that it’s quite a bit on the ugly side. However, while it’s not the most affordable option on our list, it’s inexpensive, and it’s nothing if not unique. Now, when I say the foam interior is molded to fit the G1-710 Predator desktop, I mean just that. It perfectly outlines the exact dimensions of the Acer G1-710, which would be is 16.5 x 4.3 x 13.9 inches. If your PC is smaller than this model it won’t fit snugly in the mold. If you have a similar-sized or larger PC, however, you can easily cut some additional foam out to make it fit. The accessory cutouts are more generic and will work with pretty much any mouse and keyboard.

Designed for work, study, and travel, this portable case keeps all of your gadgets organized and in one place. Its sturdy construction, padded dividers, and zipper seal make it easy to transport when traveling or on business trips while protecting your Mini PC and other accessories. What’s really exceptional about this unit, however, is its price. The cheapest choice in our lineup, this unit is a no-brainer if you’re looking for an inexpensive yet stylish portable case. While the handles aren’t as advanced as those on the Lian Li, for example, they do get the job done. Fits Snugly in Your Luggage: With dimensions of 260 x 230 x 80 mm, transporting your GEEKOM Mini PC and accessories will be a breeze.

Are LAN Parties Still a Thing?

On the other hand, anything ATX and smaller is reasonably easy to transport and move around. Of course, the smaller you go, the more portable your PC will be too. We’ll start with our comparison of the Cooler Master MC500, a mid-sized ATX tower that has helpful handle grips on top of the unit. While the size and shape of this PC case aren’t the most ergonomic or compact, it’s inexpensive and comes in several varieties. If you don’t need to take your PC on an airplane any time soon, then the Buwico Desktop Travel case is a decent option for easily lugging it around town. However, if you are taking your PC halfway around the world for an event, you may want a sturdier carry case. The RexGear 2 from Nanoxia is an exciting addition to this lineup, and a great model to end our comparison on. Another mATX case, this one has a very cool aesthetic look compared to many of the options on this list. This model makes use of an “X” theme that you can very clearly see inspired many of the design choices on the unit. On the outside, the Acer Predator G1-710 Desktop Transport Case looks like an ordinary piece of hardshell luggage. On the inside, though, its foam interior is molded to perfectly fit the G1-710 Predator desktop, plus a keyboard, a mouse, and an AC adapter. This both protects your PC components from being jostled loose and protects from any potential bumps or drops.

Okay, we'll admit it. There are very few legitimate reasons to carry around a full-size desktop tower that don't involve video games. So these desktop carrying cases are basically designed for LAN parties. But with online matchmaking often available for free, are LAN parties even still a thing? The answer is a resounding yes. The only flaw to remember is that the side window on this case is quite small, and it’s made of plastic instead of glass. As such, if you’re looking to show off the internal components of your portable PC, this might not be the greatest option for you. Conclusion Its exterior is made from 900D nylon and its SBS seamless zippers can handle near endless abuse. If you need a no-nonsense desktop carrying case, it’s hard to go wrong with a bag specifically built for such a purpose. The only thing that would make it perfect is if it was a bit more waterproof. The MC500 is the base model case, but it comes in a few other styles, too. We mentioned the MC500Mt above, but it also comes in the MC500P and the MC500M, among others. However, these other styles (minus the MC500Mt) don’t come with handles, so they don’t necessarily apply to this list. One last thing to note is that you should always store your monitor separately from other accessories, as it is easily the most delicate component of a PC setup. There are dedicated monitor bags for the truly committed, or you can follow the advice of an old friend and use the box your monitor came in (provided you still have the foam inserts). Are LAN Parties Still a Thing?

How Do You Travel With a Desktop PC?

There are a lot of things to consider when looking at portable desktop computers. Since desktops are designed to be relatively stationary, those intended for portability aren’t as common, for one. Secondly, they will always be less portable than a laptop due to the separate nature of the monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Unlike our past two styles, this case comes in two different colors, too. While they’re both quite similar, you can choose between a dark silver and a light silver for this case, which allows for some more flexible styling. Still, you aren’t paying for roller wheels when you buy a Pelican case. You’re paying for the unparalleled protection it offers from impact and water. You’re buying it because your PC should be able to go with you anywhere. If you’re still not convinced, you can get more information from a young LinusTechTips in the video below.

A recent study from Quantic Foundry reveals that local multiplayer is the most consistently appealing mode of gaming for a wide majority of gamers. The exterior of the bag is made from durable 1640D nylon. It is resistant to rips and tears, but it is only somewhat water-resistant, meaning you might want to carry your PC through the rain with this. The bag is decently protective, with a double lining of padded material to cushion impact on all sides. It’s not quite indestructible but it’s surprisingly secure for only weighing 6.6 pounds. While the GearGrip Pro isn’t technically a LAN bag fit for air travel, it is a lightweight solution for hauling your desktop tower while at a friend’s house or local LAN venue. We’re okay with this mixed cushioning for the price, though, especially since there is a much more limited selection of computer carrying cases sized for machines with Mini-ITX motherboards. The Lian Li TU150 takes PC building in a very different direction from the past two cases. As far as looks go, it looks very similar to a briefcase or suitcase. The case features a briefcase-style handle that folds down and away when not in use, too, which is great for the aesthetics of the case. As for carrying this case, you can use either the built-in padded carry strap or an optional rolling base with a telescopic handle. Your choice will come down to preference but we only really recommend spending the extra money on the rolling frame if you carry your rig around a lot. As such, even an ATX-sized case isn’t the most portable option, but you’ll usually get the most performance out of an ATX case, too, since they don’t have as many size restrictions on parts. This hits a sweet spot between performance and size that mATX and ITX don’t hit as well.

While this model has been out for a while – it’s a bit on the older side – it’s still an excellent option for those looking for an inexpensive, portable PC case. Pelican is to gear cases as OtterBox is to smartphone cases. In other words, it is the premium rugged protection option for priceless gear of any size, which is why we believe it’s the best PC carry case out there. The 1620M case measures 26.5 x 23 x 16.5 inches on the exterior and offers plenty of room for any full-tower ATX case. Overall, the Acer Predator G1-710 Desktop Transport Case is a well-designed solution for making a portable PC gaming rig. Its specialized design makes it all the more apparent why an ordinary suitcase won’t cut it when it comes to protecting a high-end machine. However, this is unfortunately, where the trouble comes in. While it’s roomy, that also means it’ll be heavier and more challenging to move when you need to. But this may be a worthy trade-off for those who are willing to sacrifice a bit of portability for a bit extra performance. Do note that the only models with handles attached to the unit are the MC500 and the MC500Mt, however.

Simple yet classic design.

Lightweight and Portable: At only 400 g, it is easy to transport and store when traveling or not in use. Secondly, it’s clear that the Nanoxia RexGear 2 is the best budget option. At almost half of most of the cases in this lineup, the RexGear 2 is unbelievably inexpensive. If you’re willing to put up with a case that’s a bit less modern than the Q300P, this is an excellent option. Handle: The most basic style of carriage. Since the materials in a carrying case are usually quite light, that won't be an issue, but the PC tower on the inside might add quite a lot of weight. Be sure the handle is made of a comfortable material. This LAN bag has all the most important features of a high-quality travel bag plus the outrageous dimensions to hold even the most massive PC towers. Surprisingly, the TU150 isn’t all that expensive, either – it’s in the same price range as the Cooler Master MC500 above. While this puts it a little bit on the pricier side for an ITX case, you won’t find a more portable chassis on this list.
