Description

Oud Wood is an expensive perfume, and its performance doesn't seem to live up to its notoriety and hefty price tag. Its blend relies mainly on three vectors, agarwood, sandalwood, and Chinese Sichuan pepper. To my delight, it is quite woody, dark, smoky, spicy, and only slightly vanilla-sweet. I get good projection and longevity on my skin. Unfortunately I do not get the beast mode that others have reported. That is a shame. :-( Along with fragrances, the brand also offers cosmetics, footwear, ready-to-wear and made-to-measure, and other offerings. Tobacco Vanille – a spicy oriental fragrance released in 2007. The main notes include tobacco, vanilla, and spices. The lasting power is between 10 – 12 hours with great projection. Who the hell wants to pay hundreds of dollars for a fragrance that SHOULD last at least 5-6 hours but really only lasts a maximum of 2 hours. You’ve been robbed by Tom Ford and I think you’re just upset about it.

I think this is quite a good composition for people starting to wear oud fragrance, it composes well to the point you are not pulled off by oud of Arabian style fragrance. I really like the smell of this. I realized that I smell a lot of the pepper and woods. It’s smooth, but sharp in a peppery way that I really like. The wood is like almost metallic to my nose but not metallic like sauvage or something, but I can’t quite put my mind on it. When I first smelled it, I thought of food, but not sweets like a gourmand, but I wasn’t too sure what it was. Then it hit me, it’s gotta be the pepper, which I love, and I guess maybe the vetiver? There are the slightest bit of warming qualities most likely coming from tonka and richer notes of vanilla, but you don’t really pinpoint those like you would in true sweet scents. I’m imagining that the sandalwood is what helps give it a good blended smell that isn’t screechy. Again, it has a sharpness, but don’t confuse sharp with screech. Very different here.In this review, I will take a closer look at this composition, including its scent profile, longevity, overall performance, and what makes it stand the test of time. Overall I don't really like this fragrance but it's extremely potent and beast mode I just really cannot imagine me pulling this off and wearing it instead of it wearing me, but if you think you are capable of doing it I can see it being beautiful. As already mentioned, Herpin created one of the “Holy Grail” trios in the Private Blend collection, and one of the best fragrances of all time, regardless of its spotty performance. Some of the celebrities that Ford dresses are Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Gwyneth Paltrow, Tom Hanks, Johnny Depp, and Ryan Gosling. Tom Ford Oud Wood Story Continuing with the story of the previously discontinued Yves Saint Laurent M7, this one feels like a natural progression and a successful sequel to bring oud note to the western world.

In this phase, I mainly get woody notes of sandalwood, oud, and vetiver, with touches of vanillic amber. Although tonka beans are listed as a base note, I didn’t really detect that sweet nutty note at all. For a fragrance with “Oud” in its name, some might find it strange that oud has a supporting role throughout the whole life of the fragrance. This fragrance reminds me of falling in love with my husband. The opening with cardamom and vetiver is exciting, but also warm and inviting. Next I get the sweet vanilla, tonka and amber- I'm getting to know it better- all of it's quirks and lovable qualities; most importantly, I'm starting to trust in this. The smoky woods dry-down is months later, when you just KNOW you want to cuddle on the couch with this person until old age. Pure comfort and love. Here’s the deal: If you plan to get yourself a bottle of this liquid gold, you need to be realistic and give up your expectations regarding its performance. It simply doesn’t perform well beyond the first two hours. I also have another 50ml bottle from late 2020 which is equally disappointing in terms of its performance with my other 2019 batch. It's like Andy Taur Desert Moroccan, or ELdO's Rien Intense. No natural cypress or ginger or juniper, leather, they are all just like virtual notes here, all synthetically recreated.
