I’ve moved to my fiancé Cooper’s hometown on the shores of a beautiful lake. His family have welcomed me with open arms. We’re planning the summer wedding I’ve always dreamed of. Neo succeeds in reaching the Machine City and meets with the leader of the Machines, the Deus Ex Machina. He argues that Smith, who has completely taken over the Matrix by then, will eventually cause the Matrix to crash. This would kill all of humanity and would thereby deprive the Machines of their power source, wiping out both species from existence. He then states that he can destroy Smith and save both species, and all he wants in exchange is peace between the two races. Each chapter is written from the perspective of a different character and that works well, as does the theme of an earlier murder mystery that Cooper is suspected of. Because of this, it was OK for me.

The myths have always been. They speak of an ancient people far advanced of where they are today. Yet, nothing has been found to show the Ones Before had ever existed, or lived sometime in the deep past. Still, those in the present time had to come from somewhere, why not the Ones Before? When Neo chooses to rescue Trinity rather than humanity in general, the Architect, as representative of the Machines, shows a hint of desperation over the possible failure of the plan to reset and stabilize the Matrix. He then reattempts to convince Neo to choose the Source door. However, Neo refuses and he proceeds to rescue Trinity. Mistakes cast ripples; they penetrate your surface, the life you thought you had, and expand onward from there. Prior suggests some sort of seniority to me, it is related to 'primo / first'. 'The bank has a prior charge over the property'.Fabio becomes a liability for Rebecca, leading to a risky bargain and a bittersweet reunion with Matheus. Hannah faces the consequences of her deceit. But if she starts asking questions, what other secrets will be revealed? Will she meet the same fate as the woman who came before her? Much to Cooper's consternation, Madison feels she needs to find the truth before she can commit to marrying him.

In each iteration, The One is guided by the Oracle and then the Keymaker to a holding room of sorts where The One gains an audience with the Architect. The Architect explains the origin and history of The One to them as well as their purpose, after which he presents The One a choice: enter the door leading to the Source to reload the Matrix by reinserting the Prime Program, or return to the Matrix. Some confusion might exist from the alternate definition of "ultimate" which means both "last" and "utmost". I loved the author’s previous book more but it still excited me and it was whirlwind, fast, captivating reading!After Neo is rescued from Mobil Avenue station, he meets once more with the Oracle, who states Neo must still reach the Source - not the Architect, but the Machine City itself, where "the path of The One ends". Another narrative, a lady claiming her daughter was killed by Cooper. Cooper definitely has some enemies, which is seems oblivious too, but his family is respected and influential. Whisper Falls is a fresh start for Madison and her fiancé Cooper. The safe, quiet town on the shores of a beautiful lake is the perfect place to spend the rest of their lives. Not long after moving, Madison discovers that Cooper’s high school girlfriend died and that the townspeople believe it wasn’t an accident. Cooper has a job lined up running things at the family newspaper but Madison has nothing planned, other than the wedding.
