All that I got from her in this book was a massive contradiction to what she was and what she said. I don't know whether this is the point that the author wanted to make or she failed to make her character consistent. Hell, I don't even know who is Persephone anymore.

When Persephone receives news of a personal tragedy and Hades does nothing to help, their relationship, which is already suffering, starts to decay completely. Desperate and alone, Persephone goes to new extremes, exposing a new side of Hades that she’s never before seen. As a Greek Mythology geek, it’s enjoyable for me to recognize all the mythological references I already know and see how the authors interpret all these already present legends into her own story. This book did a phenomenal job at “retelling” in my opinion because of how well she incorporated the original mythological aspects with her twists. Both the author’s own story and the mythology fit together almost perfectly and it was very satisfying to read. Miss girl, what? Yep, just make up for having the most boring main character in NA history by stereotyping the shit out of her best friend, that'll do! A Disney favourite, The Little Mermaid, is a wonderful story of love and sacrifice. If you want a dark, enemies-to-lovers retelling of Ariel and Eric, then try To Kill a Kingdom! I love Hades and Persephone & I'm a romance driven when it comes to reading book. On a bright side, this book could've been enjoyable if Persephone is less annoying and more mature. I wanted to give this book a chance and I so hope the third book would show some character development (because I hate not to finish anything I started, it left me restless and anxious but you tell me how when Persephone, a goddess of spring is like THAT?) If the third book is all the same with Persephone being impossible, I have to say goodbye to the series.The sassy best friend with more personality than the protagonist and love interest combined! Woahhh, mind-blowing! 😩 If the first special action is Twin's Pact + Shield of Darkness, use Heroism/ Bloodlust plus all DPS cooldowns to bruteforce the Shield despite doing half damage because the next vortex could still be a Dark Vortex and you don't want to move twice. I’m saying it in deep sympathy because Persephone in this book reallyyy didn’t deserve Hades. Seriously, she should be ashamed of herself. This was a disgrace to the original Hades & Persephone myth.

Also, why is that smutty romance books, read predominantly by women, always have female main characters that gasp at the concept of sex? The math is definitely not mathing...WELL. I'm trying to see it in a more logical standpoint. I do agree that Persephone might need to learn more about letting go and accept what happened have to happen and all... What I don't like was how she acted during the said learning curve. She never did truly learn in the end. She never really get that moment of clarity of how her decisions were wrong and contemplated it maturely. Sure, she was sad and regretted it but I don't see how she learned from it. Our protagonist, Anora Silby can see the dead and even has the ability to turn spirits into gold coins. She hides her powers and conceals her true identity while at school in an attempt to have some sort of normal school life.My issue is that she clearly didn’t employ ANY sort of editor in the process. I can’t speak on the textual version, but even the audiobook was rife with awkward word choice and sentence structure, not to mention moments like this: Either Fjola Lightbane or Eydis Darkbane will begin casting Twin's Pact (Light)/ Twin's Pact (Dark), which will heal the common health pool of the val'kyrs by 20% (50% in heroic) after 15 seconds if not interrupted. At the same time, they will protect themselves with a Shield of Lights for Fjola Lightbane, or Shield of Darkness for Eydis Darkbane, which will prevent spell interruptions until it's destroyed. The shield absorbs 700k damage (1.2M in heroic) and only once it's destroyed your raid will be able to interrupt the Twin's Pact and prevent the val'kyrs from healing.
