I'm also glad that the author didn't decide to rush Auren into leaving Midas (though I was pretty much mad early on of her blind loyalty). Glint didn't offer that much action, but a lot of character's development and insight both for Auren and the readers. I'm actually glad Kennedy made this series realistic even at the expense of Auren's inability to renounce Midas right away and even her failure to instantly transform into the strong warrior we're all impatient for her to be. They help progress relationships and present a new hill within the relationship that they they have to acknowledge and overcome.

He is already such an amazing character, I can't wait to learn more information about him and see his character develop first-hand.

Also his respect for her was the bare minimum but him being one of the first to give that to her was freeing. We find out that Midas is Barden East, the big bad she was threatened with before she met Midas, and we're supposed to believe that the big master plan of this crime boss turned monarch was to make her love him. I can't even imagine how much better Glow is going to be, especially since this book has one of the most satisfying scenes so far in the series.

Gleam’ picks up where ‘Glint’ left off but we learn so much more about the characters and Auren’s background.Leading the army is Commander Rip, a notorious warrior whose name is whispered in taverns and street corners all over the six kingdoms. He's the one who always pushes her out of her comfort zone for her own good and forces her to question herself and admit what she wants. Gleam was so addicting, I finished all 611 pages in one day (that should already tell you something) and I have zero regrets. overall, this was another installment where the plot was barely there, but the characters more than made up for it. And I'm sure we all want to say we would act like Auren, but I'm also certain it wouldn't be the case.

Much of this book revolves around them working to figure out their relationship from there, and I liked that because I didn't want to see her jump into another relationship without questioning some important things, to make sure she is protecting herself and importantly developing a sense of self away from a relationship. The second part of the book gets much darker and things that were put into motion in the first part happen. There's more scheming and more secrets resurfacing and Auren will either have to follow her heart or remain in her gilded cage. The only thing I didn't like was how many times the word "baby" was used - it's just not my thing but it didn't ruin the scenes either. i thought that the H would be THE leading man saving her from all kinds of troubles, but i was wrong. Gild ended with Auren and the other saddles being taken by Fourth Kingdom's army after Auren killed the Captain of the Red Raids by turning him into solid gold, making Rissa and the readers believe that she inherited Midas' power when he Gold-Toucher her, the revelation of the existence of a Seventh Kingdom with a bridge to the Fae realm, Annwyn, until peace was broken by the Fae, the bridge destroyed and Seventh Kingdom and its people never seen again. At the same time, Auren's Midas-colored glasses shatter and we get past her internal love-him-hate-him conflict.

After living amongst the terrifying army of Fourth Kingdom, I find myself, once again, in strange lands and a kingdom surrounded by liars. The pace felt a bit slower in this one but we have a lot of details and the history we learn about Midas was a stroke of genius that I didn't see coming. Also, I am certain that there will be a lot more chapters with his POV in Glow, based on how Gleam ended, and that makes me so damn happy.Thankfully, she didn't get too many pages in the book, and most of the story was focused on Auren and Slade. I feel that this review is only about Auren and Slade, but truly that's what I loved the most about this book. Let's ignore for now that she had gotten herself into that situation (again) and would have been much better served asking for help because she was insufferably bad at it.
