A full to bursting of detail book,the author firstly needs credit for his work,I have rarely read such a fact laden book about anyone,it is fascinating and the book basically takes you from birth onwards and misses nothing It was a very fair and honest look at her reign and her life and her mistakes as well as her many triumphs I particularly enjoyed the chapters depicting the Queen’s childhood and the glamorous and vivid years before her coronation. The queen’s sense of humour, love for her family and sense of duty are consistent themes throughout the book.

However, I have always enjoyed watching the queen's speech at Christmas and honestly, she comes across as a lovely lady on screen. Kad ir kaip kai kurie mėgtų kritikuoti žmones, turinčius daug pinigų ir turtų, tenka pripažinti, kad kartais įdomu ne tik apie juos paskaityti, bet ir pamatyti, iš ko toks gyvenimas sudarytas iš tiesų (dažniausiai tik išorė būna tobulybės ikona), o kūrinys „Karalienė“ tą tikslingai parodo. „Karalienė“ - įtaigus pasakojimas, tikrų deimantų šešėlyje parodantis, kaip neretai paprasta juos supainioti su dirbtiniais, nieko vertais.It was a more digestible read than I was expecting. Po smrti Kráľovnej Alžbety II. sa pulty kníhkupectiev zaplnili rôznymi publikáciami práve o jej živote. Vybrať si bolo ťažké, ale mňa, musím sa priznať, oslovila táto najmä kvôli obalu knihy, ktorá je doslova kráľovská. Po dôslednom preskúmaní obsahu knihy som si bola viac menej istá, že som sa rozhodla dobre. būtų daugiau pasakojama apie tai, kaip atrodė karalienės diena nuo ryto iki vakaro, kaip ji augino savo vaikus, koks buvo jos santykis su anūkais, kaip ji rūpinosi savo sveikata, kaip ji leido laiką šalia oficialių pareigų (medžioklėje, jodinėdama, gamtoje, keliaudama), kokią muziką / kiną / knygas ji mėgo ir t.t. - būtų geroookai įdomiau :) Told in an informal style this book tells the story of The Queen, her history, family, homes, travels, good/bad times, her duties, passions, personality….the list is endless but tells it all in a non boring way, I dont think I found one paragraph tedious, although has to be said I have a more than passing interest of course I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review as part of the book tour hosted by Lovebookstours.Morton describes how the Queen navigates the choppy waters of life with grace, dignity and poise, weathering the scandals her family has been plagued with across the generations. Only twenty-five when she became Queen after the premature death of her father, King George Vl, Elizabeth has become the stuff of superlatives: the longest reigning, most travelled and, for a shy woman, the Queen who has shaken more hands and made more small talk than any other monarch in history.
