A sunlight UVA/UVB desk lamp that will keep your pet warm. Tortoises are cold-blooded animal that are used to living in hot environments in the wild. These lamps provide artificial sunlight essential for proper growth. Natural or artificial sunlight helps keep the bones and shell strong and helps the body absorb calcium. Bronze - Bronze tortoise starter kits contain the absolute basics you need to house a tortoise. All of the hardware you need is included but you may need to update it over time. UVB lighting is essential towards the health and well-being of all reptiles. Tortoises are essentially ‘solar powered’ in that they require the suns rays to function. We include essential heating and lighting by way of a combined Heat and UVB bulb, in a dome fitting, secured to the upright on the table. This enables you to replicate the temperatures from their natural habitat. With basking temperatures of around 36°C for most species, we include a digital thermometer for piece of mind to ensure the correct temperature requirements are being met. The lighting is recommended to be on for 12 hours during the day, so we provide a 24 hour timer to allow everything to be switched off at night to allow for a natural night time temperature drop.

Features an enclosed sleeping area with hinged lid for easy access. This area can also accommodate a standard seed tray which can be filled with soil. Complete Calcium & Multivitamins - In conjunction with UVB, these high quality supplements will keep your tortoise healthy Housing kits contain everything you need to build a terrarium or vivarium, while a starter kit contains absolutely everything you need to house an exotic pet. There will be no need to worry about whether the enclosure is suitable and you can rest easy that your pet is safe. Many of the products in our range have been designed by furniture specialists to fit into the style of a wide variety of rooms, ensuring that your pet’s new home blends in seamlessly with your own. What are the main types of housing and starter kits? Sterilised topsoil is best for most species from arid environments which include the Mediterranean tortoises such as the Testudo Ibera and Graeca, Hermanni, Marginated and Horsfield tortoises. Gold - Gold Tortoise starter kits are designed for reptile keepers who care for multiple animals. They contain several pieces of hardware that will withstand the test of time and can be reused with other animals or in other enclosures.Silver - The Silver starter kits give you most or all of the kit you'll need to keep an adult reptile, depending on the species. Offering more than enough reliable and functioning kit to keep your new friend happy as they enter adulthood. You will need to provide a non-see through small container which is suitable for bathing the tortoise. It should have deep enough sides to prevent the tortoise climbing out (a washing-up bowl or deep cat litter tray is often used). Our comprehensive range of reptile starter kits includes a range of quality vivariums from well-known brands such as HabiStat, Vivexotic and Exo Terra. They have been put together by pet experts to provide you with everything you need to get started with a new pet, and include not only a superb quality vivarium but also a selection of accessories to provide a reptile with heat, light, foodwater and enrichment. One of our most popular kits is our range of bearded dragon starter kits.

Silver - These kits are great for beginners as they include all of the basic bits of equipment as well as a few advanced pieces that will become permanent additions to your reptile keeping tool kit. Tortoises do make wonderful pets, providing the right kind of captive environment is provided, but this is not always as easy as at first might be thought. In their natural habitat in the wild, tortoises can and do live very long lives, which may be in excess of 100 years for most species. To ensure that a captive tortoise is afforded a similar long lifetime, the captive environment in which it is kept should mimic the environment in the wild as far as possible. This means that keeping a tortoise can be expensive for the keeper in terms of providing the right kind of accommodation, the correct heating and lighting and a diet enriched with minerals and vitamins. Tortoise Table for Indoors Supermarket lettuces and cucumbers are tolerated but it is preferable to grow or collect weeds which are freely available for most of the year. Minerals and Vitamins Tortoises will also need a good source of heat, ordinary light and a source of UVB light. This does two things; it provides a basking source for the tortoise and a source of UVB. Remember, tortoises are cold blooded and cannot regulate their physiological body temperature as we can. In the wild, tortoises would find a sunny spot and warm up to become active and hungry. UVB light is normally obtained directly from the sun outside and is needed for tortoises to convert calcium in the diet into healthy shell and bone. Indoors this must be provided by artificial means.Tortoise tables are a popular choice for tortoises. They are best to be kept in the corner of a room out the way of any drafts. Tortoise tables are great enclosures for kids, as they are open they are more interactive. They can be fed and handled in the table rather than keep getting it out. An ordinary household 60w or a 100w spotlight can be used for the light and heat. The spotlight can be suspended from above using an ordinary light fitting or if the lamp chosen is 60w it can be located into a bendy desk lamp.
