[13] Reception [ edit ] The senator was smart. I was stupid. In this country you pay for being stupid, just as you pay for being poor.” Setting: A fictional city with a large population of impoverished children and a corrupt ruling elite, centering on a landfill called Behala The film was distributed outside of North America by Universal Pictures International. Buna karşın kitapta duygu sömürüsüne hiç her yok.

I met some streetkids, and Rat was born. Raphael and Gardo were delivered soon after, based on the tenacious beggar boys who’d come out at night as the drinkers got drunker – never to fleece or steal, but always to charm and cajole and beg that little bit more.

Zaten içindeki yolsuzluk teması dünden bugüne, dünyanın her yerinde karşılaşılabilecek cinsten. Sciretta, Peter (31 July 2014). "Stephen Daldry's Trash Trailer". slashfilm.com . Retrieved 1 August 2014. That night, the boys figure out how to decode the numbers using the Bible. It says: "Go to the map ref where we lay look for the brightest light my child." They realize other numbers correspond to a graveyard on the map. Later, they wake to the sound of police at their rented house. They escape through a hatch they've cut in the roof and run over rooftops, jumping into the window of an abandoned building full of street kids. Blending in with the others, the boys make it to the street while the swarm of police stands confused. They get into a taxi and head for the graveyard. And do you know what is beautiful and sad at the same time? It's that it doesn't even feel like a fiction book. This situation where kids are left to live in trash while their political leaders live in extreme wealth has existed, still exists and will undoubtedly continue to exist. It is so easy to close your eyes and not look at the millions of images of poor children in developing countries. So easy to look away from what is happening to the majority of the world population. Andy Mulligan not only makes us look at these kids but he makes see how wrong we are to ignore them. They have strictly nothing and yet they have everything: courage, wit, strength, faith, loyalty and honesty (not in the not-telling-lies kind of way). These kids are made of awesome.

While readers will delight in the excitement and adventure of this story, they will also learn about the poverty and difficulties faced by many children throughout the world and about the consequences of corruption in government Marianne Saccardi, Greenwich Citizen bizim de yakından tanıdığımız bu konu, ilerledikçe kitabın ana teması haline geliyor. The story’s antagonist. Senator Zapanta is a corrupt, “fat” politician who lives in a luxurious gated compound while the citizens of his country live in squalor. Zapanta is portrayed as the story’s most despicable thief…

The characters weren't really developed enough for me. And the book is told through the different characters POV which I usually like. But the writing wasn't that great therefore it didn't draw me in. So, am I garbage? the garbage boy had just lied his way out from under the noses of those clever men. A little garbage boy had sat there shaking, saying, ‘I don’t have the bag,’ when all the time I knew exactly where it was and what had been in it. The garbage boys were way ahead of the garbage police, and I had said nothing to those men." Gossip Girl, Not a (31 August 2015). Wonderful. This book is just wonderful. Despite the connotation of the word, Trash is far from being, well, trash. It’s more of a gem actually, if I may say. So what made me want to read this book? Curiosity. Who wouldn’t be curious about a novel that is about his own country? With these, I’ll tell you in three parts the reasons why I like this book : the setting, the characters, the plot. An elderly, frail political prisoner at Colva Prison. Decades ago, Gabriel Olondriz attempted to expose a corrupt politician named Senator Zapanta, but he was imprisoned instead. Raphael, a young boy from the Behala… This is a YA book but totally different from the YA books that are popular among teens and young people. It neither insults your intelligence nor it makes you escape reality. Those who have read this so far were mostly British young girls and a couple of them wrote that they felt sorry for the boys that they would like to go to Behana (the place where Smoky Mountain used to operate), look for, embrace and comfort the boys. Well, one of them is described as having a killer smile so it might just be a reason too.

Retailers:

Trash was simply written. So simple, in fact, that the style felt amateurish and basic to me. Not that there's anything wrong with basic, don't get me wrong, but it could have been better. Plot-wise, I appreciated the mystery that it presented, although how it will eventually play out in the end was pretty much predictable. It sounds shameful, doesn’t it? To visit a third-world dump to stare, and then go home again to TV and a three-course meal. That’s what we did, though – we stepped through the wardrobe for a moment into what was, to us, an upside down mad fantasy world of grimness.
