I was not surprised at all with Boromir's ending, it was actually kind of funny and sad at the same time. It's been many years since I read this for the first time and what struck me is that I had completely forgotten it was written for children.

Kuduk becomes ‘hobbits’ and Maura, Ban, Razar, and Kali become Sam, Frodo, Merry and Pippin (I laughed so hard when I read this) and other words into digestible words in English.
