I personally have really enjoyed using this deck, I am particularly fond of the bonus cards which fit perfectly into this deck – readings are a joy to carry out using these cards and as a result, this deck now sits alongside my favourites on a special shelf. I am so excited for this and would firstly like to thank the fabulous Liminal 11 for sending me a review copy of the deck. The Minor Arcana are mostly illustrated, although there are a couple that are more like non-illustrated pips. All the cards have handwritten titles beneath the illustration, with the Major Arcana being given both a number as well as name, and the Minor Arcana being titled in full i.

I also wanted to mention, with this deck being an artistic interpretation of the Tarot, especially in the Minors some of the symbolism and imagery doesn’t intuitively translate to the RWS inspired definitions generally, and those in the guidebook with this deck. The only ones I use are hand-made by incredibly talented artisans, really thick, with lining, and won’t float away with the slightest gust of wind. The multi-award winning artist and graphic novelist Tillie Walden brings her beautifully unmistakable style and soulful warmth to the world of tarot. The majority of the Trumps feel as though a female is depicted, but Walden has walked a fine artistic line. Packing and fulfilment is handled by Pauline, Terry and Barbara (Paulines brother and sister) If you wish to contact any of the family, contact details are provided below! I would have loved to have seen a little more in the guidebook about the art on specific cards and Tillie’s interpretation of some of the Artwork.

I have mentioned in other reviews how reading is a chance to connect with other people, and I like this aspect of the practice, but this deck and this guidebook are written almost completely in the second-person, and they are both so inclusive—not in the current, sometimes pejorative political sense, but in the most loving and accepting way—that I may have to start reworking the meanings of some cards with which I have become entirely too comfortable.Though Tillie has renamed the suit of wands/ staves as ‘Torches’, the minor arcana also sticks closely to the traditional Rider Waite set up. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). The Cosmic Slumber Tarot arrives in a sturdy, cardboard, magnetic-close case, two-piece case which unlike past Liminal 11 products opens and closes at the base of the deck, thus reducing the chance of the inner packaging/ cardboard holder accidentally falling or coming loose from the packaging. However, she has the gift of a cat – a message telling us that the way through hard times is by using our intuition.

That might sound a little arcane, but I love the fact that it’s bringing back some of the mystery that was present for me in the tarot before I mastered the cards.Personalised advertising may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of information under California and other state privacy laws, and you may have a right to opt out. If you’ve been a longtime fan of Tillie Walden’s comic illustrations, you all but must get her tarot deck. Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places. I almost feel like knowing how to interpret tarot gives me the content of a dream, and then knowing how to interpret dreams would get me the actual meaning being conveyed by my reading. Most of the symbolism in the Cosmic Slumber deck is at least reminiscent of the classic Rider-Waite-Smith deck, which means it will be immediately intuitive in many ways to experienced tarot readers.

Additionally, the deck includes two new cards, “The Morning” and “The Night,” to accentuate the somnolent theme. THIS booklet however, much more professional and I am assuming longer lasting: hardcover, good binding and all the pages are full color with some extra art/decoration added to the booklet, very well made. Figuring out the meaning for yourself, in your own time, is part of what it means to engage with the tarot. There are no descriptions of the action taking place in the Minor Arcana cards, simply a divinatory meaning for upright cards only. The focus on dreams and the subconscious is present in every part of this deck, from the descriptions in the guidebook to the art to the unique spreads. Though I adore the design and colour of this case, I was slightly disappointed to find that part of the packaging has been padded with plain, brown cardboard which is sadly glued inside the beautiful case – this perhaps could have been avoided if sizing had been correct upon printing and is perhaps something which may be considered and altered in the future. Walden pulls off bright colors, hyperactive line work, sharp edges, and allegrissimo pacing and yet is still able to convey dreams and slumber.
