The Eldar, T’au, and Tyranid armies are all known for their complex and visually striking designs, making them a great choice for painting with this shade. By using Coelia Greenshade alongside other Citadel paints, you can create a visually stunning army that stands out on the tabletop. Coelia Greenshade Colour Schemes & Combinations As I neglected to take step by step photos along the way, here are the methods/recipes I used to paint the Hobgrots alongside a couple of screenshots! Your imagination (or maybe sanity) is the limit when it comes to how intense you want to be with these new paints. The new White Scar Primer makes colors like Doomfire Magenta, Frostheart, Magmadroth Orange, and Striking Scorpion Green especially eye searing. You can also use a bright silver base to create a metallic or slightly iridescent surface, as is the case with the Blue Horror on the left. It was painted using the same colors as the Hydra Tyrannid but a bright silver drybrush was applied in between the application of Stormfiend blue and the Luxion purple. On the more comedic side, Shaun of the Dead is an all-timer for the way it blends comedy and pathos, effortlessly switching between taking the piss out of zombies and exploring the drama around difficult decisions that have to be made in the name of survival. REC and its inferior-but-still good US remake Quarantine are both solid, following a reporter and her cameraman as they’re trapped in a building following an incident where residents are infected with a disease that turns them into zombies.

There’s nothing like the classic concept of the walking dead. Zombies run the gamut from completely harmless to extraordinarily dangerous, depending on the storytelling involved. Often times they are a grim reminder of death, the slow growth of an ideology within a society (which is always topical), and/or a tragic and cautionary tale. Other times they sing in musicals, but we don’t talk about those here. Train to Busan by Yeon Sang Ho will remind you of Snowpiercer a bit with its train setting, but it’s a great work on its it own, balancing horror and comedy in equal parts. For the chipping, take a fine piece of sponge and use it to dab Rhinox Hide on the sharpest corners.

If you go through Agrax and Nuln a lot then I am surprised you haven't made the switch to Army Painter Strong and Dark tone. Near as damn it the same product and 17 ml rather than 12. Your wash cost:model ratio could be even better! If the container's an issue keep a couple of your GW wash pots when done and decant the Army Painter stuff in there, The characters have a lot of gems and such, which I painted orange as a contrasting colour. Recipe-wise, the key colours are as below. Paint the ropes with Citadel Contrast Flesh-Tearers Red and any Wood or other straps in Citadel Contrast Wyldwood. Dark Imperium and Plague War by Guy Haley. These books focus on Guilliman’s battles against the Death Guard and Mortarion’s forces, but also feature several notable daemons, including Ku’Gath Plaguefather.

The Last of Us series is a critically-acclaimed misery simulator that follows the survivors of a fungal zombie apocalypse in their attempts to survive. The games are equal parts captivating and miserable to play and Naughty Dog does a great job creating the world you play in. As I mentioned above, my Krulboyz hero scheme is based on the Blue-Tongued skink. Initially I was going to carry the blue spot color motif forward onto the heroes, but ultimately decided that that didn’t make as much narrative sense. The Hobgrots are subservient to the larger Kruleboyz. Instead, I decided to carry the Hobgrotz skin forward as the leather worn by the hero. It’s a vicious society and any Hobgrot that steps out of line is turned into hides.

The Underbelly

Here I experimented with some various Contrast colours over Runefang Steel Layer on the wings trying to find a new shimmering effect on the wings. I’ve tried Contrast Ork Flesh, Contrast Plaguebearer Flesh, Contrast Magos Purple and Contrast Aethermatic Blue. There’s a lot to recommend about the Dead Rising series, which sees players taking on the role of different characters in a zombie apocalypse. The series is particularly notable for its 72-hour time frame, weapon crafting, and the main antagonists being the company that manufactures and distributes Zombrex, a drug that, if taken daily, will prevent an infected from turning into a zombie. In Dead Rising 2, your goal is to keep your daughter alive by securing enough doses of the drug. The series is pretty decent overall, though the first two games are considered the strongest entries.

You’ve likely already seen just how saturated and bright the new colors are. At a glance such a stunning palette would seem to lend more to the fantasy-scape of Age of Sigmar rather than the Grimdark of 30k or 40k. But fear not grunge fans, there are at least three must haves in the new range.

Complement

In our How to Paint Everything series, we take a look at different armies of the Warhammer universe, examine their history and heraldry, and look at several different methods for painting them. With Halloween fast approaching, we’re looking at how to paint the spookiest monsters around. In today’s HTPE, we’re looking at how to paint the legions of the walking dead. Specifically, zombies.
