The only time Hawthorne draws backgrounds that hint at him being capable of so much more than what he’s asked to draw in this issue, is when he draws the cityscape of Gotham, which is significantly more detailed than pretty much anything else we get this month.

However, it's seemingly able to exploit Loophole Abuse once it places Gotham under lockdown and simply allows the city to fall into chaos, as it cannot claim direct responsibility for any civilian casualties that occur as a result of its actions, and it seemingly considers this a Necessary Evil to destroy Batman once and for all. In fact, even the two short stories drawn respectively by artists Belén Ortega and Leonardo Romero have excellent artwork that brilliantly fits with the stories being told there. It’s a neat showcase for Jiminez’s range, but at the same time, all these different styles, including Hawthorne and Janin’s styles, make for a disjointed aesthetic, and I struggle to find a good story reason as to why the art has to change so much. In general, it feels like Bruce has lost himself and Failsafe is the proof that Batman is afraid more than anything else of himself and where his actions might lead.Zdarsky manages to strike a balance between action and introspection, providing insight into the characters’ motivations while delivering exhilarating moments of confrontation and conflict. The hope is that by revealing the truth, it'll shut down the robot (as Bruce didn't break his rule and thus there was no need for its activation).

The Justice League doesn't fare any better as Superman's gutted by Kryptonite and Failsafe lures the others into a trap. Hope Spot: During Failsafe's attack on Wayne Manor, Tim reveals the Penguin killed himself and framed Batman. The plot occasionally stutters as it transitions between action-packed sequences and more contemplative moments.

The Catwoman back-up story was a bit silly, but the Zur En Arrh one was solid, with appropriately modified artwork as Batman flips between the two identities (three, if you count Bruce Wayne! I like Zdarsky and the glimpses we saw of Bruce's strained new relationship with Selina, but on the whole I'm hoping he can come up with some better story ideas than this one.

He began writing and drawing independent comics, such as the humor series Prison Funnies, around 2000 . He has seen upcoming outlines, and has been able to work with them, suggested ideas and be a cheerleader for the new Daredevil team.

Henri Ducard realizes that Bruce and Lucie stole the jewelry box from Hubert Glonet, who is the serial killer. Batman has battled all manner of criminals, monsters, and super-villains, but nothing could have prepared him for what s coming with Failsafe, an unstoppable foe that can outfight and outthink the Dark Knight could this all be connected to a dark secret in Bruce Wayne s past? While it's still the same basic text template that was introduced with Tynion's run to commemorate the start of Infinite Frontier, the exterior Bat Symbol has now been removed and inserted inside the text itself.
