While I won’t say that the lamp has a long arm, the reach of the metal swing arm is long enough to cast useful light across your entire desk. The best part about this lamp, in my opinion, is that it is so simple to use and have around when you need it. Will the lamp last me a long time? Value?You can easily find an architect lamp with simple assembly. In most cases, you’ll merely need to attach the head and clamp, then insert a lightbulb.

Technology moved that work to computer software, but the usefulness of architect lamps ensured they remained relevant. Today, architect lamps can be found on desks and other workspaces, providing easy-to-control lighting for a variety of functions. Sure, a good comfy chair and a well-organized desk space with fancy holders and model paint organizers will go a long way toward your C.R.A.P. method, but good light is the epitome of enjoying things (in general). Recommended lights for painting accurately have a color temperaturethat falls within the daylight range (5000 – 6500K or Kelvin) and provides sufficient diffuse illumination to prevent eye strain, e.g., squinting, and hard-shadowing. Another important feature of architect lamps is their burning time. While all lamps are built to burn for hours, architect lamps were traditionally built with the understanding that they need to be able to comfortably burn for hours at a time. For that reason, you’ll find the materials are more durable than you might typically find with a lamp.

I like the white, because of how clean it looks. The swing arm has a smooth operation and the plastic LED housing feels light but solid. This is a sturdy product. If there was any concern, it might be the springs, which tend to get squeaky over time. It can be powered by a USB plug or power plug, but it is sadly not by battery (which would have made it amazing). You could take a power bank with it instead.

The lamp is truly impressive presence. It is definitely much bigger than what I expected. As I said, it has a good 50 cm of LED lamp, enough to illuminate the entire worktop evenly. It has a color temperature of 5600-6000K with a CRI 80. The hinges seem ok quality - not super high end but not easily damaged either. A thing to note here is that the base and middle hinges are not tension adjustable; probably not a huge deal if you don't plan adding things to your light (I don't) - hopefully they doesn't loosen over time because there's no way to tighten it. It does seem to be holding pretty steadily though, over the course of the last week I haven't had it droop or change position. The hinge closest to the lamp has a tightening knob on it, so when you want to adjust the angle of the lamp you need to first loosen it a bit, adjust, and then retighten the knob. The knob is not made out of the best material and I wish a slightly better material was chosen here. I've included some photos of the max angles at which you can rotate it to give you an idea of the rotation amount. when turned to the max angle to the right side, it becomes a bit hard to tighten the knob due to the proximity to the lamp, but you can manage to tighten it if you pretighten a little before reaching the max angle.

The adjustable nature of architect lamps makes them popular for a wide range of household uses. You can clamp an architect lamp onto any type of surface with an edge, then direct the light where you need it to go. If you have a sewing room or craft table, for instance, you may like the fact that you can move the light around as necessary.Without good light you can’t see anything, properly. When it comes to focusing on what’s important, placing emphasis on good light is the key to enjoying whatever activity you’re doing.
