Description

Royally Not Ready is a rom com, bodyguard, royalty book with loads of laughs and very few triggers. This book does have sexually explicit scenes with some BDSM. Trigger Warnings So....I hated 80% of this book. The 20% I liked didn't justify me giving it any higher than 2 stars, but also some parts were so good I didn't think it deserved the 1 star I wanted to give it. Lilly drove Keller nuts. I want to say in the best of ways, but she also drove me nuts. I’m not complaining that much because even when I was empathizing with Keller’s annoyance, I was laughing at it. Lilly knew just what to do to push his buttons in all the wrong and right ways. These two had insane chemistry. It kept ramping up the entire first half of the book. I couldn’t wait to see the explosion and it was everything I wanted it to be. I loved how Keller and Lilly got to know each other on a deeply emotional level and the connection they made. They were a great mix of sweet and passionate. After a leak to the gossip magazines about her existence, Keller and Lilly are forced to hide out in an uninhabited castle far from the King and Queen while she does her royal training. When they arrive they find that the “castle” is barely fit for habitation.

this book was an emotional gymnasium and i'm still crying. i just finished this book at 5am and i'm not sure i'm going to be sleeping any time soon, but Meghan Quinn did it again. I'm speechless. As always, Quinn threw in some fun side characters. I loved guards Lara and Brimar. They added some great stuff to training Lilly and the rest of the story. I also enjoyed King Theo. And even though we didn’t get much of Timmy Tuna, I enjoyed him simply because I giggled every time I saw his name. From bestselling author Meghan Quinn, comes a fresh take on a royal romance with a twist. Laugh out loud funny and full of some of her steamiest scenes yet, Quinn takes you on an unexpected, sizzling fairytale journey. There is no way to explain, This burning, merciless feeling, Biting through my bones. It eclipses my thoughts, It burrows into my veins, A cataclysmic force so strong, I can’t breathe. I need you. I broke us. It’s broken” Keller doesn’t have a lot of faith that Lilly will be able to learn everything she needs to learn. He has to succeed for his country and King Theo or the country may be taken over by the neighboring country of Arkham.Royally not ready had three main tropes for me, Royal Romance, Enemies to Lovers and Grumpy/Sunshine. I think Grumpy/Sunshine was the predominant trope for me and I was happy that was the case. Keller was very prim and proper, just as you would expect an employee of a royal family to be; but don't let that fool you. Keller has a naughty side that certainly fulfilled the steam factor for this book. Playing the Field” is the second novel in the “Hot-Lanta” series, and was released in the year 2013. The gang has returned and this time there’s a wedding to celebrate, except that is the furthest thing on Molly Meyers’ mind. After losing Luke (her fiance) two years ago, there is nothing she wants to do less than help Jane Bradley (her best friend) plan her wedding and celebrate the obnoxious, annoyingly lovey-dovey relationship that Jane has with Brady Matthews. I can’t put into words how much I love this book. Ever since we were first introduced to Lilly and Keller in Royally Not Ready, I have be addicted to their romance. Royally Not Ready is a Princess Diaries type romance between a girl who would be princess and the Royal secretary charged with preparing her to take the crown. Narrated by Emma Wilder and John Hartley in duet, this story felt fully immersive with both narrators performing a variety of male and female characters. My biggest issue with the narration was that Emma Wilder only voiced female characters and I love listening to her man voice so much! But John Hartley's narration of Keller was deep and sensual and made up for it. I really enjoyed Lilly's journey through becoming a royal and learning more about her family and history of her country. Her sass gots me every time but her emotions felt like they were everywhere throughout this book. Keller on the other hand is his same old self grumpy and stubborn with a huge soft spot for Lilly.

Meghan Quinn definitely surprised me with this book! It included her usual comedic relief and many hilarious shenanigans that her characters always find themselves in - but Royally In Trouble was also full of mystery, angst, suspense and drama. I don't want to spoil anything, but there are definitely some heavy themes throughout this book. After falling desperately in love, Keller and Lilly are heading to the altar. But wedding preparation and tradition comes with its own set of struggles, especially as a plot unravels aimed at keeping them apart and away from the throne. Royally in Trouble continues to follow Lilly and Keller as they navigate their personal and professional relationship and go through hardships to get to know one another and themselves. I rarely buy ebooks unless they are cheaply priced or on sale. I also very rarely buy physical copies of books. I’m a bit of a minimalist so I have to absolutely adore a book to buy a physical copy that will be proudly displayed in my home. The setting for this Royally Not Ready was also done well. Meghan Quinn is fantastic at world building taking us from the beaches of Miami to a Nordic island that has beautiful scenery. It was easy to imagine what was happening to the landscape surrounding the characters. All in all, I’m immediately buying the illustrated hardcover to go on my shelf. And I’m adding this to my top 2023 reads list as well. But seriously, this book was SO GOOD. It was indeed a perfect combo of the princess diaries, my fair lady, and fifty shades, whew. I didn’t want it to end. Someone help me find my 🐱, I think Keller stole it. 🤣

We are oil and water every single day and even though he’s training me to be queen, I have this simmering desire to kneel before him. We are oil and water every single day and even though he’s training me to be queen, I have this simmering desire to kneel before him. 📚 BUY A COPY OR READ FREE ON KINDLE UNLIMITED! Tilting her life on its axis by having to uproot herself to go to Torskethorpe, learn about the culture and her heritage would be daunting enough, but having to deal with the grumpy man who’s in charge of training her while they share a bathroom might be a bit too much for the bubbly Lilly. I wish the ending gave us readers more time with Lilly and Keller, it did feel a bit rushed but over all I finished it with content and appreciated the wild royal ride Meghan took us on throughout this book. Now I am huge fan of Meghan Quinn, everyone who knows me, knows this. However Royal Romances are really not my jam. So when Royally not ready landed on my e-reader I was curious to see if Meghan could change my mind. This book was so necessary in my opinion. I don’t think Meghan could’ve done it better. Loved every second of this book and I’m going to desperately miss these characters. I’ll forever and always love you. There’s no changing that, even with your wild, unstoppable mouth.” There were some characters in this book that made me wonder if we’d be revisiting this world again with new leads, but we’ll see!

In future, I do request that you advise me of any potential plot points that may invoke similar feelings, so that I may preemptively book therapeutic appointments post-read. The tears, horniness and the way in which you hit a little too close to home could have been dealt with sooner if I’d had fair warning. But then we get to Keller. The whole reason he broke Lilly's heart was his insecurities and I thought (so did Lilly) that he'd got over that at the end of book 1, but alas he got WORSE! He was so annoying for most of this. The first half of the book he was closed off to Lilly, bossing her around, keeping things from her, arguing with her etc. Brady meets Jane, and is instantly attracted to her inner sex kitten and innocence, however the last thing she wants is to get thrown into another relationship with this publicly known man-whore. Especially not after she got her heart broken so horribly. Brady makes it a mission to win Jane over and make her see him like he truly is, not how the media views him. It is not that easy, though. Spring training, ex’s, wedding plans, old friends from college, gossip magazines and the paparazzi appear to keep getting in the way of his goal to earn her heart.

Caught Looking” is the first novel in the “Hot-Lanta” series, and was released in the year 2013. Things have been heating up in Atlanta, or in Jane’s celibate life of two years. On the second anniversary of her nasty split from her ex, her friends Molly (a class A potty mouth) and Albert (an expert flamboyant dresser) decide that it is high time Jane drops her conservative persona, just let loose and begin having fun again. Of course, I didn’t follow him. I might be up for a good time, but I’m also educated enough to know leaving with a stranger isn’t smart. Well, that’s until he mentioned my mom’s name. My mom who passed away several years ago.
