Shooting in Sh*tty Light. The Top Ten Worst Photography Lighting Situations and How to Conquer Them This book gives a great overview of both the basics and tips to help more advanced photographers. I really liked not only their examples, but also the interspersed technical tips - the latter were very clear, concise, and relevant, without being overwhelming for beginners.
