Argos sells products from a range of popular baby feeding brands including Tommee Tippee, MAM, Medela and Philips Avent. These warmers normally have an indicator light that goes off when the milk reaches the right temperature, and a thermostat, which keeps the temperature of the water constant. Several baby equipment manufacturers have come up with sterilising baby gear using your home microwave. The only thing to keep in mind is that some of these products require a large microwave to fit their equipment. Even if you have this at home, it may not be possible to expect you’ll have access to the right sized microwave when you travel. Autoclave bags are single-use, flexible bags designed to contain waste or other items during autoclaving/sterilization.

Think about what material you want to go for, whether it's BPA-free plastic or glass. Since June 2011, it's been illegal to sell baby bottles containing BPA (bisphenol A) in the EU. This came after the National Childbirth Trust (NCT) warned that BPA can leach into the milk and if absorbed by the body, can interfere with healthy growth.I did this in the evening once my daughter was down for the night. It took about 20min, but I was only doing two bottles per day. If I was doing it for an exclusively bottle-fed infant, I’d probably switch to the pre-sterilized drop in liners, so all you had to wash would be the nipples and caps. In that case, it may well be worth it to buy and drag along an actual sterilizer.

So while sterilising on the move might seem like a lot of hassle, with a bit of forethought and choosing what works for you will make it less trouble than what it sounds - promise! Read on: First rinse the basin or sink you’ll use with boiling water. Then fill the sink with soapy water and wash all of baby’s equipment. This is easy if your baby is down to only a few bottles per day, as havebabywilltravel.com explains: A compromise is a ‘travelling’ cup, with a spout that you can lift up when your child wants to drink, and put down when he or she has finished.

When it comes down to teat shape and feel, there is no evidence to suggest that one is better than the other, so it's really a question of which your baby prefers. With both tap water or bottled water, you will still need to boil the water before feeding time just to be safe. These come with grippable handles, which make it easier for your baby to hold, though keep in mind that it could get messy if they use the handles to wave the cup about and it's not leak-proof. If you think you'll be using the bottle warmer to heat jars of food as well as milk, choose one that has an adaptor for holding jars at an easily reachable height – otherwise you can end up having to reach down into the hot warmer for your jar. Some warmers have the facility to heat food in a bowl, too. Other types of bottle warmers If you are bottle feeding your baby, you’ll need to come up with ways to keep your bottles sterile on your flight as well as at the hotel.
