Stitch together a rainbow patterned butterfly with our symmetrical Butterfly Cross Stitch Pattern template, 6 count binka bright embroidery floss.

We have used 14 count aida to create our cute little rainbow cross stitch so only two strands of each embroidery floss are needed to complete each cross stitch. To create this cross stitch bookmark, you will need cross stitch fabric. This bookmark cross stitch pattern is a 10 x 33 cross stitch grid. This will give the correct finished pattern dimensions for an A5 bookmark when complete on Aida-6 or binka cross stitch fabric.

If you are a complete beginner to the mindful art of cross stitch, take a look at our video tutorial to get you started. Continuing with the flower theme, try this Sunflower Bookmark Cross Stitch Pattern. The beautiful sunflower grows to the full height of your bookmark, with a yellow bloom at the top. Summer is on the way so why not celebrate by creating a swarm of fuzzy, bumbling bees with this adorable craft which children and adults of all ages can enjoy.

You will see and hear cross stitch fabric referred to as having a ‘count’. The count of the cross stitch fabric tells you small the crosses created will be. The higher the count of a cross stitch fabric, the smaller the crosses required. The count of a fabric tells you how many cross stitches are in an inch of the fabric, so if you were using Aida 14 fabric for a cross stitch project, you would expect to stitch 14 cross stitches across to cover an inch of the fabric. This can help you to calculate the size of your finished cross stitch project. It also gives them an opportunity to exercise their creativity and develop their design skills by making their own patterns, and can be an easy route for introducing more difficult kinds of embroidery.
