I'm not sure which of the Mermaid High dolls you grabbed but I'm hoping it's either series 1 Finley, either of the Oceannas or the Spring Break Searra! But the clothes, colour change, and other pieces of marketing make it seem like they want to be the coolest new thing. Crystabella has a unique fin that performs a magical colour change when submerged in ice cold water. INCLUDES: 1 Articulated mermaid fashion doll with 2 hair colors in one, 2 interchangeable mix and match sculpted tails and fins, 1 dress, 2 jackets, 1 top, 2 purses, 1 pair of glasses, 1 pair of earrings, 1 bracelet, 1 arm cuff, 4 hangers and 1 clothing rack. I don't think they need to convert to humans to be valuable BUT the lack of any decent articulation from the bust down - they can't even sit properly - is very hard for me to swallow and I agree on the permanent tail types.

This collector edition Orra doll has a unique, sculpted tail and gown with an iridescent finish and multicolour glitter touches.Also, the halter top looks strange when Orra's torso joint is rotated since the molded patterns no longer connect. I was happily at work on a review that features a doll from a few years ago (there are a lot of those that I need to get caught up with! Dolls that can’t sit straight because their hips can’t accommodate the movement or limited shoulder rotation—much less the neck joint. Last of all, the outfits on both dolls--whether they're molded or fabric--are attractive and well conceived.
