Salizada refers to one of the first paved streets in Venice, where you can still find a red stone in the shape of a heart. Also sign me up for newsletters so I can get special offers, recommendations, and expert advice to my inbox!

In fact there is a secret ingredient not mentioned (all families recipes as secrets) it should be kept secret but just for your information we put a few drops of aged brandy which gives the amaretto a richer aroma and taste. Tempus Fugit Creme de Noyaux– Creme de Noyaux is a French take on amaretto, made from apricot and cherry pits, bitter almonds, and spices, colored bright red with cochineal. In fact, the steam still does not “burn” the marc or the grapes, but instead delicately transports the alcoholic vapours to the top of the device, allowing a pure and aromatic distillate to be obtained. The ancient art acquired by Master Distiller Bepi Tosolini continues to live on in the professional commitment that is displayed by the entire family, from Giovanni, who now heads the company, to his grandchildren Giuseppe, Bruno and Lisa. It is such a stunning location to be working in, with views of the Friulian Alps and endless vineyards!Naturally, Disaronno also lays claim to being the original amaretto liqueur, this one born as a love potion invented in the 1500s. Amaretto di Amore – This unique expression is produced in Kentucky (by Sazerac), made from bitter almonds and blended with apricot juice. The special secret of Tosolini distilled spirits will never be revealed to anyone outside of the members of the family. The nose drew me in with two of my favourite desserts and continued onto the palate with superb integration of flavours.

For over 60 years, the Bepi Tosolini distillery has been the finest Italian representation of high quality grappa and liqueurs. Light, delicious and rounded on the palate with a fresh almond sweetness that leads to a long, candied finish. Finish: Long with intense almond slowly dissipating to leave a pleasant hint of ginger at the finale. It’s pure marzipan on the nose, but the palate takes a sharp turn, turning boldly chocolatey and offering a more brooding and aggressive roasted nut composition. It is a blend between distillation, carried out with manually operated steam stills, and infusion of sweet almonds.Distillery Bepi Tosolini started as a grappa distillery in 1943, but over the years they have extended their collection to several other spirits and liqueurs.

A budget bottling, it noses with sweet, fresh almond paste notes, but what hits the palate here is surprisingly loaded with a big chocolate character, tempered by more almond extract and a hint of ripe banana. For many years, the best-selling brand has been one that hails from ( di)Saronno in Lombardy; however this is not made with real almonds, and while that may be great news for those with nut allergies, Salizá is made with crushed almonds, staying true to amaretto’s origins.Distillery Bepi Tosolini, considered one of Italy’s best grappa distillers, has created a selection of tasty, all-natural liqueurs, anything from coffee to liquorice to strawberry and this beautiful Amaretto. Like Luxardo, there’s a distinct fruitiness on the nose here, with sweet marzipan notes vying for position. The Italian almonds are left to macerate in small stainless-steel tanks with MOST® eau de vie, and no sugar or artificial flavourings are added. Quite syrupy in texture, it’s a sticky and very sweet liqueur, but this oddly works to its favor, giving the concoction a real enduring, dessert-like character.
