I know that some kids used shampoo, dish soap, or anything else they could get their hands on it to get a little extra speed. While anyone could have seen the trouble that Lawn Darts would bring, not every toy was so obviously dangerous. Sometimes it was highly flammable fluid that smelled like diesel and other times it the ball would rupture and the kid would get a bad rash.
