Description

The Farpoint Trek isn't quite a trekking bag, nor is it your standard piece of luggage; it combines the best of both worlds to create what is quite possibly the perfect travel bag for those who are constantly on the move. The bag is made from 420D Nylon along with solid YKK zippers for durability, it’s also very water resistant. The outside of the Farpoint Trek 75 is covered in various attachment points for extra gear. From the daisy chain style loops to the mount points for the rain cover, Osprey have covered all their bases here.

If you are spending a summer city hopping around Europe or Southeast Asia the standard Farpoint will suit you perfectly. On the other hand, if you are heading to South America and planning a few hiking trips, the Farpoint Trek will be much better suited to the task! The frame in the Trek 75 is much like that of the original Farpoint. It is very unobtrusive yet still works incredibly well and makes carrying heavy loads a doddle. Initially, I was very sceptical about this combination but by testing this product I have had my mind well and truly changed. No. The Farpoint Trek is the men’s version of the bag. The women’s version is known as the Fairview Trek and comes in two sizes, 50-litres and 70-litres.It is one thing to use high-quality materials; it’s another to use them well. So is the Osprey Farpoint Trek 70 built well? The answer should be obvious. The lid detaches and turns in to a mini sling bag that’s big enough to carry a few smaller items on any short adventures away from camp. When you’re out hiking and it starts to rain, the AirCover also works as a rain cover. Because the AirCover is not designed to be a rain cover first though, it may not be 100% effective. Still I find this extra level multi-faceted ability to be very impressive and better than nothing.

With capacity for 75 L worth of stuff, this product is normally intended for the Walter Raleighs and Francis Drakes of this world going on long-distance treks. This unsurprisingly makes for a rather cumbersome product although the ergonomic harnesses are helpful in offering more comfort. Most important of all, the dimensions are 77 cm x 42 cm x 36 cm. Are Friends Synthetic When you are using it on wheels, all of the straps fold away nicely so they don’t get in the way or catch on anything. Side tension straps are linked to the hipbelt. By tightening these straps you can stabilise the load but reduce the hipbelt flexibility. Where balance is critical tightening them can help you feel more secure. However, if you are striding out over easy terrain it’s better to loosen these straps to allow full hip flexibility.

As a flight cover, the AirCover feels a little baggy. Unless your bag is crammed to capacity, the AirCover will sag and not look great but the protection it offers is certainly worth the downgrade in appearance. As a rain shield, I was pleasantly surprised by how well it fit. Stable carry to guarantee 100% comfort when you're embarking on a dream trip Osprey Farpoint Trek 75 Osprey Farpoint Trek FAQs Osprey Farpoint VS Osprey Farpoint Trek – Which Should I Choose? The Farpoint and the Farpoint Trek, which one is for you? Osprey’s Aether AG (or Ariel AG for women’s fit) is easily my number one choice in this size bag thanks to a durable build, Osprey’s anti-gravity system and extreme comfort for multi-day hikes and expeditions.

Osprey’s Almighty Guarantee should also be an indicator of their bag’s quality. A company wouldn’t give a lifetime warranty if it didn’t think that the product could last a good long while. No. The Farpoint Trek is too big to take on as hand luggage. You may be able to sneak the smaller 55-litre version on as hand luggage but officially, it’s too large.
