Description

The ancho chile has been a staple in Mexican cuisine for centuries, and Ancho Reyes pays homage to this tradition by using only the highest quality chiles grown in the region. On the nose, warm dried chili, cinnamon, and cacao. In the mouth, a rich velvet warmth followed by sweet baking spices and a subtle acidity, finishing with a pleasant lingering smokey heat.” It can pair really well with rum, whiskey, or any other barrel aged spirits that have deep dark flavors to them. But it can also go with bright flavors like lime, grapefruit, and mango, or you could play off some of its more subtle flavor notes by mixing it with chocolate, cinnamon, or cloves. An Old Fashioned, Margarita, Daiquiri or a Negroni can all be made by swapping out a little Ancho for all/some of the sweet ingredient of the drink. Expect subtle aromas and complex flavours of juniper berries, herbs, roots, flowers and spices. It’s a smooth gin with great depth. Easy to fall for. Puffing Billy Steam Vodka

To sum it up briefly, it is a chile liquor that is made from a cane sugar spirit that is macerated (essentially infused) with Poblano chiles either fresh or sun dried depending on which version you are talking about. So what does Ancho Reyes taste like? Ancho Reyes is a brand of chile liqueur produced in Puebla City, Mexico, based on a 1927 recipe from the same city. [1] The liqueur is made from and named after Puebla's renowned ancho chiles, a dried form of ripe poblano peppers. [2]One of my all-time favorites is Ancho Reyes, a Mexican liqueur made from dried ancho chiles. Its unique and complex flavor profile has made it a staple in many bars around the world. Ancho Reyes Verde liqueur, on the other hand, is made using fresh poblano peppers, resulting in a liqueur that’s lighter and more herbaceous. Its smooth and well-rounded flavour profile is gentle and yielding, featuring a delightful sweetness and smoky aftertaste. This is it. If you like, it’s a coffee martini livened up with the warming and sweet, yet spicy, flavour profile of Anchos Reyes chilli liqueur. Ancho Reyes – producer of poblano chile liqueurs – introduces Ancho Reyes Barrica, the newest addition to its portfolio. Deep bronze in colour, it has aromas of dried chillies followed by cinnamon spice, cacao and tamarind which lead to an initially sweet palate with moderate heat and a hint of acidity. The spices linger beautifully with subtle flavours of almonds, cacao, tamarind and light herbal notes on the finish.

Ancho Reyes is a liqueur produced in Puebla City, Mexico since 2013. It is based on a recipe for homemade concoctions (or menjurjes) from 1927 from the same city. The original (red) version of the liqueur is made from Puebla City’s native ancho chiles, which are late harvest poblano peppers that are dried for 2-3 weeks. The Verde (green) version was introduced in 2016 and features early harvested, fire-roasted poblano chiles in addition to the ancho chiles. Both versions of the liqueur are 40% ABV. This is just to name a few, and Ancho Reyes is usually best in a recipe with multiple ingredients/flavors! Where To Find Ancho Reyes pop your serving glass into the freezer for 15 minutes just before serving. This will allow you to serve your coffee martini deliciously chilledBarrica is the company’s first-ever barrel-aged chile liqueur and the first new addition to the Ancho Reyes range since the release of Ancho Reyes Verde in 2017. While it does have a good amount of heat, it also has a light sweetness and silky texture that balance out the spiciness of the chilies perfectly. I would say it’s no spicier than Sriracha, so you don’t have to worry about burning off your taste buds! Yes, please! As if the iconic Espresso Martini was not captivating enough, we’re now going to invite you to push out the boat completely and add a naughty measure of Ancho Reyes to the mix. Follow our standard recipe and add 0.5 oz Ancho Reyes for an extra bit of zing. 12. Maria Verde The green version brings a younger more green pepper flavor and does not have as much of the baking spice and smoke flavors that the original does. Probably preferable if you are mixing it with lighter spirits. How is Ancho Reyes made?
