Wonderland’s War made a surprise appearance at our games weekend, and I must be honest I was sold on the box, a huge image of a very sinister looking Cheshire cat grinning with menace left me intrigued. In dieser laufen wir mit unserer Charakterfigur im Tischpräsenz ist und wird ein immer wichtigerer Faktor und im Falle von "Wonderland's War" bekommt man hier nichts anderes als einen wahren Augenschmaus serviert. denn diese fiesen Madness Chips im Beutel sorgen dafür, dass man eine Figur aus dem aktuell umkämpften Gebiet entfernen muss. Daher bereitet man sich vorher mit dem Einsetzen der Meeples vor, Was "Wonderland's War" so herausragend macht, sind die vielen kleinen Einzelteile, die sich perfekt ergänzen. Habe ich schon von der tollen

einen Siegpunkt, wenn man sie einschmiedet noch mal zusätzlich zwei weitere. Es gibt wirklich enorm viele Chips und Fähigkeiten, die das Spiel bereichern und spannend machen, sodass ich hier nur Grundgerüst ist gegeben, die Teeparty-Phase sogar ganz passend, allerdings erschließt sich uns jetzt nicht unbedingt, warum die Wunderlandianer einen titelgebenden "Krieg" führen. Letztendlich In Wonderland's War, 2-5 players take the role as a faction leader who has been invited to the Hatter's tea party. Drink tea and eat cake as you move around the table drafting cards to gather your forces, build your towers, upgrade your leader, and recruit Wonderlandians to your cause — but one must be careful as shards of the Looking Glass are spread throughout Wonderland. Once all the plates are empty, the Tea Party is over and war begins. Use the forces you gathered to battle your enemies in familiar locations, but make sure not to draw your Madness chips or your supporters will abandon your cause and you will be out of the fight. Can you muster enough strength to win the battle, or will you just try to complete Quests instead by meeting the right conditions such as gaining region bonuses and set collection throughout the game?Spiel dem anderen gleicht. Ebenso gibt es für die erwerbbaren Ally-Chips verschiedene Varianten, sodass sich die Fähigkeiten der Chips immer ändern. Enorm abwechslungsreich und einfallsreich.

I’ve only gotten to play Wonderland’s War a few times so far, but I’ve really enjoyed the mix of bag-building and area control. I like the fact that there are more effects for the allies to mix up the game, but even with the A-side of the ally cards I feel like there’s a lot to explore already. I definitely enjoyed playing the game with the premium chips and custom bags during the demo, even if I felt the box was a bit overwhelming in size with all those trays. The tactile feel of the chips was great! But even the retail edition is an impressive game and the gameplay is solid either way.

Once they have drawn their first token a player can decide to stop drawing at any time, with the war phase ending when all players have either gone bust or have decided to stop. Players can also decide to complete quests, forge weapons or build castles to gather victory points during the war phase - as long as they have enough resources to do so. If there are still at least 2 players who haven’t busted, the battle continues and they each draw another chip, and so on. If you choose to halt, you reach into your bag but pull out an empty hand, at which point you will no longer draw chips from the bag. Well, that’s exactly how it plays out in the battle phase. Players will battle it out in the areas they have placed supporters in. A battle could range from a 5-way royal rumble to a 1v1, but if you are the only player to have placed a supporter you will automatically take the win.
