Description

that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "I am the chief of the children of Adam on the Day of Judgement and I am not boasting, and in my hand is the banner of praise and I am not boasting,......."

O Allah! To You alone I make complaint of my helplessness, the paucity of my resources and my insignificance before mankind. You are the most Merciful of the merciful. You are the Lord of the helpless and the weak, O Lord of mine! Into whose hands would You abandon me: into the hands of an unsympathetic distant relative who would sullenly frown at me, or to the enemy who has been given control over my affairs? But if Your wrath does not fall on me, there is nothing for me to worry about.

Other sources of Seerah.

Study the Seerah to raise your hope and lift your Imaan. Studying the torture and turmoil that the companions and the prophet endured helps you during your times of trouble. It gives you hope that as long as you stay in the truth there’s always hope in the end. Humanizing the Prophet (S) and highlighting the relatability of his life: Allah (SWT) chose the Prophet (S) for a reason. The dear Messenger of Allah (SWT) lived a life full of trials and tribulations. He was born an orphan, and grew up with tremendous loss in a harsh, unforgiving society. There are many parts of his life, and the life of his companions, that Muslims today too can relate too. The present – Whenever we send salawat to the Prophet (S), the angels take our salaam, deliver it to him, and he responds to it right then and there! SubhanAllah, if one were to truly grasp the depth of this exchange, one would never feel lonely. What’s more, he promised that if he is to ever visit someone in their dream, it is not simply a dream but his true presence! If we teach our children about Rasulullah ( S) in a practical way, they will learn to contextualize his teachings in their lives and learn to love and practice his example. For instance, you can teach humility using examples from the Prophet’s (S) life as highlighted in this blog . Remember, the Prophet (S) never himself wrote out textbooks or gave detailed sermons of fiqh rulings regarding day to day activities. Rather, he (S) taught his Companions in a seamless and natural fashion, setting an example in practice. When a situation came about that needed his guidance, he (S) would gracefully provide a solution which would one day become a fiqhi ruling. The word Seerah means a path one takes from one place to another, a path a person takes during his or her lifetime. It includes attitudes, behavior, reactions, and biography.

The rhythmic qawwali could be heard below in the streets as well, where a young man with Down syndrome was sitting with an empty cardboard box. This young man was beating a flap of the cardboard box to the tune of the qawwali in pure ecstasy. The beauty and power of the love for Rasulullah (S) can truly be captured in this sight: for when this love becomes a part of the fabric of a Muslim culture and society, then it becomes visible even through the purest of souls. Criticism of the Burdah is a relatively recent phenomenon. Over the 800 years since the poem was composed, hundreds of classical scholars have praised the poem & written commentaries on its meanings & merits. Criticism of the Burdah is quite rare by comparison, and nearly all arguments against the Burdah have been advanced within the past 50 years. Study the Seerah to get love in your heart, not just from your lips. Loving the prophet ﷺ is an act of Ibadah– worship— and everything you do to develop this love will be a source of reward for you! The more you know him, the more you’ll be impressed with his personality and the more you’ll love him. Allah -‘azza wa jal- commanded us in the Qur’an to follow the example of a person with such an inspirational character: Certainly you have in the Messenger of Allah an excellent exemplar for him who hopes in Allah and the latter day and remembers Allah much. [ Qur’an, 33:21] In the introduction to Ustadh Mostafa Azzam's unique rhyming English translation of the Burdah, Abdul Aziz Suraqah writes: ibn al-Zubayr (d. 713). He wrote letters replying to inquiries of the Umayyad caliphs, Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan and al-Walid I, involving questions about certain events that happened in the time of the Prophet. Since Abd al-Malik did not appreciate the maghāzī literature, these letters were not written in story form. He is not known to have written any books on the subject. [6]

As stated above, the Prophet(Sal Allahu Alayhi Wa Sallam)'s character is an excellent example for us to follow, and we can learn this example by studying the seerah. Mohammed (Sal Allahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) was a perfect model as a human being in each and every aspect of his life. He was a political leader, military leader, an imam, a father, and a husband. And there is no example better than his to be successful in any of these positions. His personality and character are like that of no other person and the best example for us to follow. Whose life is better to learn from than to learn from the life of the best man to ever walk the face of the earth, the Prophet (Sal Allahu Alayhi Wa Sallam). And there is no example better to follow than to follow the example of the man who Allah commands us to follow, the Messenger of Allah (Sal Allahu Alayhi Wa Sallam). A'isha (RA) reported that a person asked Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) as to who amongst the people were the best. He said:
