We are delighted to partner with Rational Acoustics in integrating our huge selling EVO 2, 4 and 8 channel audio interfaces into the Smaart v9 platform,” says Audient Marketing Director Andy Allen. “With EVO’s ability to digitally control the interface’s gain, phantom power and polarity via our EVO Control app running on users’ laptops and now with Smaart’s embedded integration, we’re providing a new, intuitive workflow for Smaart users everywhere. Indeed, a Gain Changing solution.” For guitarists, the front-facing JFET instrument input is well located and sounds excellent. The Evo 8 also comes with the Torpedo Wall of Sound amp modelling plug-in from Two Notes Audio Engineering which pairs well with the bundled Cubase LE. There are also 2GB of free Loopcloud samples for beat-oriented producers and a rotating library of plug-ins and tutorials available for Evo 8 owners, making this an even more attractive prospect. MusicRadar verdict: We’re seeing bigger recording names on cheaper and cheaper interfaces, and Audient’s is a great entry to the market. The web says Whether you're a musician, podcaster, beatmaker, producer, streamer or another creative entirely, the EVO 8 is made for you. With a sleek, minimal design, paired with a streamlined control panel, the EVO will slot seamlessly into your existing setup. The Engineering

A more angled top would have suited us more, but then the ID range never had this so it’s curious as to why EVO brings this to our attention! In all, the Evo 8 is an excellent and full-featured interface, especially for the price. If you’re a podcaster, streamer, bedroom musician, or any combination thereof, we can’t recommend this interface highly enough. Key Features Want to grow your studio business? Invest in Audient. – Audient on Audient keeps Lito’s Place on Top of Film WorkThe preamps are remarkably clean and transparent with a gain range of 58dB – enough for most microphones. Notably, there is comfortably enough gain for an SM58, Røde NT-1 and Aston Origin. You can even get a passable level out of the notoriously low-sensitivity Shure SM7B for spoken word, but you do have to max out EVO 8’s input gain. Can't fault it for the price, useful features not found on other audio interfaces, works well with the Mac and Eco software. When it arrived, it worked fine at first. Then a bug hit me where the interface wouldn’t be detected by Windows after hibernating, so I attempted to reinstall the drivers - a HUGE mistake to say the least. We’re calling it the mic preamp of the future,” says Andy. “Our powerful EVO Mic Preamp technology combines all the sonic advantages of a studio-grade analogue mic preamp with digitally controlled tactile precision, so you can set your gain with pin-point accuracy – right down to the decibel.” EVO Mic Preamps provide 58dB Mic Gain, while its advanced 32-bit converter technology offers 121dB dynamic range. Quality of the sound is amazing, preamps are close in quality to my RME Fireface UC and the drivers are really solid (I'm on windows).

However, the LED ring’s position encircling the central control knob on the flat top of the device means that if you push it further than a foot away, the knob begins to obscure the LEDs. An angled top would avoid this but undoubtedly increase the price. The Monitor Mix switch allows you to easily blend your input signal with your DAW output so you can play along and record with your songs Low-latency, customisable software mixer - route outputs/inputs, apply phantom power, configure headphone mixes, set sound levels and more. However, the Gear4music extended warranty scheme provides an enhanced service, and is designed to offer a higher level of protection than many 'free' warranties offered by some retailers and manufacturers. All front panel controls are intuitive and immediate. Want to mute an input or output? Hold down its button. Want to link channels 3 and 4? Hold down both their input buttons. Want phantom power? Hit an input button, then press the 48V button. The basics are exactly as simple as you’d hope. The compact and portable design makes the EVO perfect for musicians on the move. Whether you’re recording vocals for your latest song or podcasting with friends on the go, the EVO is the perfect choice. It’s even USB powered, meaning you don’t have to bother with tedious power supplies, just plug it in and you’re ready to go. On paper this seemed pretty much perfect- a compact interface with 4 inputs, smart gain, from a seemingly reliable manufacturer and for not that huge of a price!

Another neat touch is that you can change preamp gain inside certain DAWs, including Logic Pro X, meaning you don’t even have to switch windows to the mixer. Unfortunately, there’s no way to save input levels within your DAW projects, but the Evo mixer software is more than capable. Sound If an item can not be repaired, a similar alternative product or cash discount (as defined in this policy) will be offered Bigger sessions demand more channels and expanding your existing audio interface via ADAT might be the most cost-effective solution to scale up your studio,” says Audient/EVO marketing director, Andy Allen. “SP8 does exactly that, giving you eight studio quality analogue preamps, a modern and intuitive user experience with exceptional audio performance across the board.” The EVO 8 employs a streamlined and intuitive design with one-button controls. It also provides powerful controls including smart touchpoints to adjust your speaker, headphone and channels from a single knob. I don't see the point in buying more expensive interfaces than this, I compared this to my Clarett... haha. I sold the Clarett. These utilise some of the technology from those big desks – notably the ASP8024 preamp – for their high-quality sound. At this year’s NAMM show Audient announced the EVO range of interfaces which are not designed to replace the ID range, but more to be a completely new and compact interface solution.

As with all EVO products, SP8 benefits from the addition of Smartgain, an innovative and time saving feature which gives the option to automatically set the gain with the touch of a button. “As with EVO 16, EVO SP8 can automatically set the gain for all 8 channels at once,” explains Andy, highlighting the added advantage for musicians who have multiple mic inputs (drummers) or line inputs (synth players). The EVO interface comes complete with a professional software bundle including premium-grade plugins to get you started straight out of the box. Features

Too often, though, attempts to circumnavigate the technicalities of the recording process result in limited and limiting feature sets... With the EVO 4, however, Audient has created an audio interface that is genuinely simple to use but is in no way simplistic." Input recording is also exemplary, helped a little with a Smart Gain feature that helps you set levels, although to be fair you don’t really need it as such (see below for more on this). Audient ask (rather than claim): is this ‘the world’s smartest audio interface?’. Maybe we can answer that for them… Audient Evo 4 review Audient have a history of big mixing desks, and now have one of the most compact interfaces available. Is it EVO so good?
