Description

The second sanding will remove any original finishes applied to the wood such as an oil, wax or varnish. The product can be used on wood either indoors or outdoors, and is rain repellent so ideal for use on garden furniture. Danish Oil naturally has a low-sheen finish, which can be buffed slightly with a fine grade (000) wire wool.

According to some very senior people here, if its white it has lost most of its goodness (no, I dont which goodness). You would have been better off using Rustins "Garden furniture oil" This has an added UV filter and bioside and is much better for outside use, danish can be used outside but is better inside. And, if you do have a small scratch, you can easily apply another coat of Danish oil to make it disappear. Most knocks, minor scuffs, cup rings and stains from spills such as wine can be removed by gently sanding the affected area and re-applying more Danish oil, which will blend in with the original finish. Once you have prepared the wood ready for the oil, the Danish Wood Oil will penetrate the wood's surface, enhancing the natural beauty of the wood and bringing out the grain.Pour a small amount of Danish oil straight out of the tin onto the surface you want to protect and evenly rub it all over the surface with a clean rag. Im far from an expert, and where were at now, even though we got away with it, I think thats all it was - We were lucky.

Any ‘nibs’ or dust on the surface of the wood during oiling cannot be removed with this method of application until the wood has been left to dry for at least 24 hours. As some of the wood is unaffected, I'm wondering if I've used sapwood, and it is this that is affected. UK products are mainly Tung and/or Linseed oil based, although some use only vegetable oils and synthetic varnishes. Once the last coat of Danish Oil has dried and you have smoothed over the surface with a De-nibbing Pad. I'm not sure, but I may have stumbled across a new technique (to me anyway) to speed up the drying of stain on red oak. Before applying finish, it is important to remove as much of the dust as possible from the work piece. It also provides protection, so your woodworking project (such as cabinets or furniture) will last longer. Apply the Danish Oil with a brush or lint-free cotton cloth and allow to penetrate for 5-10 minutes before wiping off the excess with a clean lint-free cloth. I just feel like I started off with a really beautiful bit of wood but having lost that wonderful red quality (that Bob's bubinga items have) I haven't really done the wood justice. It is almost like the break-or-make moment that will allow you to fully enjoy your natural, solid timber surfaces.

For a true representation, always test out the finish on a small offcut prior to complete application. How did you apply the danish oil, if using it outside it is suggested that you apply with a brush and flood the surface, not removing any excess. This helped when I applied oil in the afternoon, wiped it down, then the cool evening kept it contained until it skinned over. This guide looks at which finish is the easiest to apply, which provides the best look, and which provides the best protection. When you apply Danish oil, it soaks into the bare wood and, when it’s dry, gives you a hard and durable finish that has a lovely soft sheen. I should have added that there is a lot of cracking in the timber as well, as if the water has penetrated deeply.

Our Danish Oil has been formulated to prime, seal and finish any wood surface as well as re-oiling wood for maintenance. If the wood has been treated with an oil, varnish or paint, you'll need to strip this off, or sand it off with sandpaper prior to applying the Danish Wood Oil. I did so much reading on the proper techniques for the look I wanted and thought I did this all correctly but apparently It is not completely done.

This is one of those finishing projects where pretty much anything can be justified, so enjoy the freedom!
