Description

Published by Z2 Comics, the book spans 288 printed on 150 gsm Périgord luxury art paper and expertly bound in Verona, Italy. As far as I can tell, this at least gets all the content right, even if the experience of leafing through that beautiful hardcover is lost. Other than that, it is the best thing I've spent on 100/10 I rate this and you should support ma'boy Jamie Hewlett!

The band has so far released seven studio albums, along with three compilation albums and eleven extended plays (EPs). Notably, among the book's many contributors, are four former Gorillaz collaborators: Del the Funky Homosapien, Robert Smith, Laurie Vincent and Jack Black. Celebrating 20 years of Gorillaz, this latest Z2 partnership sees Hewlett expand the band’s collaborative vision to fellow visual artists in The Gorillaz Art Book, a stunning visual feast of 306 pages. Jamie Hewlett, prima di diventare famoso come membro dei Gorillaz è stato ed è tutt’ora uno dei disegnatori britannici più influenti a livello mondiale. In 2006, he was named Designer of the Year by the Design Museum in London, and in 2009, Hewlett and Albarn won a BAFTA for their animated Monkey sequence for the Beijing Olympic Games.Der Preis ist mehr als in Ordnung für das gewaltig dicke Buch und den hochwertig gedruckten Bildern auf einem ebenso hochwertigem Papier.

Gorillaz have always collaborated with music but this is the first time we’ve done an art collaboration. In 2015 The Suggestionists, an exhibition of prints at the Saatchi Gallery in London, demonstrated an exciting new direction in Hewlett’s practice. It seems like someone of a certain age trying to be funny and missing the mark slightly (as Goldtiger did, I feel. Jamie Hewlett is one of my stronger artistic influences and I own many of his recent Tank Girl books/collections.I’ve really enjoyed working with so many of my favorite artists and the result is this amazing book. With influences ranging from hip hop to zombie slasher movies, Hewlett emerged in the mid-1990s as co-creator of the zeitgeist-defining Tank Girl comic. Gorillaz have always collaborated with music, but this is the first time we’ve done an art collaboration,” said Hewlett in a statement. Murdoc Niccals, Noodle, and Russel Hobbs are reimagined through an artistic pastiche that includes the likes of Ruff Mercy, Kim Jung Gi, The Cure‘s Robert Smith, and more. This book offers insight of Hewlett's unfinished projects, (unfortunately) overlooked comics, and original sketches that deserve to be displayed in museums for generations to come.

When Jamie Hewlett and Damon Albarn first created the Gorillaz, art was at the forefront of the multimedia project. The weird feeling that you get is that by trying to be an annual, the likes of which us Brits might have picked up in WHSmith in the 1980s, it's trying to be slightly edgy and cool. There are multiple fold-out pages and pages printed on acrylic to reveal inkwork over pencils and just an attention to detail that I wasn't expecting, but am thrilled is found here.Gorillaz have always collaborated with music, but this is the first time we’ve done an art collaboration,” Hewlett previously in a statement about The Gorillaz Art Book via Pitchfork. Thank you for preserving this excellent book - I have many great memories of checking this out from the library in high school over and over again and using it to piece together the lore behind a band I loved. B. auch seine Arbeiten zu Monkey - Journey to the West oder auch sein Tarot-Karten-Set, welche beide im Buch enhalten sind.

It's weird looking at something that is trying to be edgy but that also knows that young kids probably ignore Gorillaz (I hope not, it's their loss) but also that its target demographic are not as edgy as they used to be. If your a big Tank Girl fan there isn’t much here unfortunately, with a larger emphasis on Gorillaz instead. Featuring brand-new artwork by Jamie Hewlett, who has invited more than 40 creators to offer new interpretations of 2D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle, and Russel Hobbs in one expansive volume of original artwork.

Gorillaz have always collaborated with music but this is the first time we’ve done an art collaboration,” said Hewlett in a statement, adding that he’s “really enjoyed working with so many of my favourite artists and the result is this amazing book.
