If you have no other option then you can also line your grow room walls with white bedsheets as they are quite reflective and easy to work with. Whenever you are out after dark, observe what you can see, and what is hidden until it is near you. Use these observations to make a hypothesis of which “color” will most increase the visibility of a pedestrian. Will one “color” be way more visible from a distance? If so, why do you think this will be the case? Every object in the real world has some degree of shininess to it. In some cases this shininess (or reflectivity) is obvious, as with mirrors, chrome, or glass. Other times it is more subtle, as with painted wood, or smooth but unpolished stone / concrete. The higher the Roughness value, the less shiny a surface will appear. When Roughness is 1, the Material appears fully diffuse. Was your expectation correct? Are you surprised by the results? Does this change what you might wear as a pedestrian at night or in low-light conditions?

This foil looks like a great way how to reflect the light but it really is not a great option because this foil tends to wrinkle and crease a lot and all those wrinkles and folds will create an uneven light distribution that can even burn your plants. Have your test “pedestrian” assistant(s) take a flashlight and the three different “colors” of clothing and safely walk out to about 30 meters straight ahead of the observer's flashlight—or until they are no longer very visible in their dark clothing. Once they arrive at a good distance for testing, have them flash a short on/off flashlight signal to alert the observer that it is time to rate the visibility. Extra: This test was performed at night in darkness. How do you think results would change under low-light conditions, such as dawn or dusk? How would you design such a test? Normal map are a type of Bump map that require an image with RGB values. These RGB components correspond to the X, Y, and Z coordinates, respectively. In this science activity you will put three different “colors” (bright, fluorescent and retro-reflective) to the test. Which one do you think will increase visibility most in poor light conditions? As you decrease the distance between the car and the pedestrian, the visibility of each of the colors increases. Still, at any distance, the retro-reflective material wins the visibility contest. the left mirror has a Gloss of 0.98, the middle is Gloss = 1.0, and the right one has Gloss of 0.90. Below is a demonstration of how Roughness can affect the shininess of a Material. In this case, the sphere is in an empty environment so the highlight seen on the model is a direct reflection of the light source.

The best radiator reflector on the market is the nifty radiator reflector kit from Radflek which provides enough reflective foil to insulate between 3-6 radiators in your home (depending how large they are of course). Regular mylar sheets are usually very fragile and any damage to them can result in bends and folds that tend to concentrate light in one spot and if that happens near your plant then it can get heat damage. In 99 percent of cases, you will not need to adjust the Specular input. The default value of 0.5 is suitable (and accurate) for most Materials. White paint is used in larger as well as smaller growing spaces and it can reflect up to 80% of the incoming light and for such a cheap price it is a great solution. finish disperses the light and gives a very blurry reflection. Also, uneven or waxed-but-grainy surfaces

Reflections further than this range fade out to reduce compute time. Fade to The color that rays with no intersection within the Max Distance take. The Opacity slider controls the overall transparency of the surface. If you’re using it combined with a transparency map, it will define the maximum opacity, so white areas on said map will appear as opaque as you’ve set using this slider. Air has a refractive index of 1.0 – so light rays travel through it in a straight line -, water has an index of 1.33, window glass 1.52, and, for example diamonds have an index of 2.42 – they bend light quite heavily. The single most inexpensive and easiest method of creating a great reflection surface is to get a flat white paint with as much titanium oxide as you can find. The Specular input can also have an effect on the shininess of a Material. Pushing the Specular value closer to 1 will make the reflections or specular highlights of a Material appear brighter and stronger. Lowering that value closer to 0 will weaken the specular reflections until they are almost invisible.
