The IDC Powerharnesses is available in nine sizes – from Baby 1 (teacup dog) to Size 4 (Newfoundland) – and is available in 25 colours. You can also replace the Velcroed side patch with a customized label of your choice. An excellent everyday option for top wags. Dog muzzles are often associated with aggression. But, they can be used on dogs for a number of reasons, from avoiding bites, to preventing your dog eating harmful items on walks. This belt harness is a good option for larger and wider breeds of dog. It’s extremely easy to fit: just slide the large loop over the dog’s head and clip it on. Halti is suitable for a number of different dog breeds, coming in three different sizes. Additional benefits include a reflective strip on the harness for use when walking your dog at night. For the best experience, it’s recommended that you combine the Halti with the compatible Halti Training Lead, which you can use for even more “steering” control.

If you have a puppy pulling on a leash, our Halti Training range can help! We recommend that walking-on-the-lead training is only done for a short period each day, and within the overall scope of your puppy’s recommended daily exercise allowance. It is important to note that lead walk training should only be a part of your puppy’s daily exercise which should also include a wide range of activities to aid mental stimulation and early socialisation. A common guideline for estimating a daily exercise level for your puppy is 5 minutes of exercise per month of age, twice a day. So for example, a 5-month-old puppy could have 2 x 25-minute walks daily. However, you should consult with your vet on the appropriate number of minutes per day as a puppy’s breed and development stage will also play a role in the overall exercise time. After about 10 minutes, I gave the instructions to my husband and said 'You work it out'. He didn't really get them either. This is designed as a no-pull solution for most dogs, with both a lifting action and front control steering. It’s a great design for flat-nosed dogs who cannot wear a headcollar.

How do Haltis Compare to Other Types of Aversive Collars?

Whilst the fit of the collar itself might not be uncomfortable for your dog when standing still, this pressure when walking is most likely very uncomfortable. Leaving a Halti on your dog long-term can be cruel, as it is only designed for short periods. Leaving it on long term can cause fur loss and other injuries. While the Halti is designed to enhance your level of control over the dog, some dogs will become overly submissive and subdued when working in a Halti. The main reason most people want to learn ‘what is a Halti’ is because they’re suffering with a dog that pulls on the leash. I do think, whether it's my own state of mind or not, that the HALTI No-Pull Harness did probably help ease pulling a little in certain overexcited moments, but I couldn't say for sure.

The HALTI harness will stop your dog from pulling if you are familiar with how to use it properly, you fit it correctly and you apply calm consistent dog training techniques. The Halti head harness describes itself as giving the owner full control by gently directing and steering your dog from the front. Ostensibly designed for active dogs accompanying their owners on long outdoor runs in the countryside, the Hi & Light is constructed from light Ripstop nylon material and features slim nylon straps, a single top-mounted aluminium leash clasp and a sealed Velcro pouch with integral cord for attaching a name tag. The pouch is also big enough to store a few emergency poo bags. The HALTI brand is well established and has a good reputation so I thought I'd start off on the right foot and the team kindly offered to send us their same brand Double Ended Leads to review too. In short: Will a HALTI harness stop my dog from pulling? It has five adjustment points for customisable fit and a broad, padded chest plate for extra protection and comfort. Dog seat belt loop tether with carabiner is included. It is compatible with any car seat belt system. However, the Halti is specifically designed to associate pulling with a negative consequence for your dog. Are Haltis Comfortable for Dogs? This is because the Halti doesn’t train your dog to heel. It just gives your dog an unpleasant consequence when he tries to pull. The Julius-K9 leash is designed to be easy to hold, even in wet weather conditions. With its rubberised construction, you won’t lose your grip, it will withstand no end of all-weather walking, and it simply wipes clean. The secure metal carabiner attaches easily to your dog’s harness ring. This reviewer has been using one for over two years in all terrains with no sign of wear and tear.

I own three dogs. Danny, a Rottweiler cross Dobermann and Chris and Mia, both Rottweilers. For years, I was spoilt by owning and walking just two girls - Mia and Chloe, a Labrador. Traditional no-pull dog harnesses look similar to a regular walking harnesses. They usually have multiple attachment points, including one on the dogs' chest. The Halti No-Pull Harness from The Company of Animals is not your standard dog harness. Its unique design is what makes it so effective. So, the feeling when your dog pulls has to be uncomfortable enough to prevent the action of pulling in the future. Not Designed for Constant Use

Double-leads are more complicated to use but have been proven to provide better balance for an unruly dog and thereby reduce pulling. That said, the chest padding alone most certainly has an affect on how the dog responds when walking – just the tiniest tug of the leash will invariably have it walking to heel. The heavy-duty plastic clips are seriously large and we wonder if this combination of wide webbing and large clips is the reason the whole harness tends to shift over to one side after a few minutes wear. That said, at no time did the dog – an elderly Labrador – appear to be in discomfort. We suspect the smaller sizes use narrower, thinner and more supple webbing, which should ensure the harness remains in better position. In this article, we will look in more detail at the function and use of the Halti, and the pros and cons of using one on your own dog. Read on to learn more. What is a Halti? The lead has multiple metal hoops so you can shorten it but even at its shortest length, basically halved, it's very long. Too long for me and most definitely too long for what I'd consider a short/road length as the instructions say it's suitable for and by having to turn the lead four or five times around my hand, it made it quite slippery. Remember, these head collars work by pairing the pulling action with an uncomfortable, unpleasant consequence. If you’re still considering whether a Halti is right for your dog, take a look at the pros and cons of this tool. Pros Either use a fabric tape measure or if you don’t have one, a piece of string works. If you have a ‘wriggler’ then get some help, fit their collar first to hold onto and if you're still struggling use some dog treats.
