The P in BPR6ES stands for “projected insulator or projected tip.” This type of spark plug has an extended ceramic insulator tip that protrudes further than regular insulator tips in most spark plugs. The proper gap for the BPR5ES spark plug is 0.028 in – 0.030 in (0.70 mm – 0.80 mm). It is essential to state that the gap is a significant factor that determines the performance and efficiency of a spark plug. In other words, the BPR6ES spark plug is more suitable in high-performance engines that generate a lot of heat due to its ability to prevent overheating. So, if your car’s engine is built to run with BPR6ES spark plugs and you replace them with BPR5ES, you may experience fouling, misfiring, overheating, etc. Trivalent plating is the silver finish on NGK plugs that is specifically developed to prevent corrosion of the bare metal threads and metal surfaces of the spark plug, whilst allowing dry fitment without the need for anti-seize compounds during services.
