Nine out of the ten measured pairs fall in between +/- 3dB difference with one outlier having about 5 dB less bass (20 – 200 Hz) than average. I had to give up previous headphones because factory replacements were not available (or in the case of the NAD, the factory replacement turned out to sound quite different from the original pad) and I don't like treating headphones as disposable items.

I already have decent monitor speakers [M-Audio Deluxe 5a], but the KRK monitors always looked really cool, and I heard them at a friends house and they sounded fantastic. Symphony Tech Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, registration number 716065. Given the comfortable way they enclose the ear, I had expected the 8400s to have impressive isolation; in practice, they are fine but nothing special in this regard, perhaps because they are so light overall. This is partly because the ProAcs create a wonderful sense of instruments suspended in space (they really excel at this), something no closed-back headphone is going to match. Listeners with smaller heads might perceive a couple of dB’s more bass, and/or varied response of 2 – 5 kHz range depending on headphone position on the head.Along with the accurate bass, all other levels (mids, highs) are very well and evenly represented too. The KRK KNS 8400 Headphones provide music producers, beatmakers and DJs with trademark KRK clarity, detail and audio performance for any application. For instance, I often find that it's harder to hear when things are out of tune on headphones than it is on speakers, but this was not the case with these headphones. and polishing the shiny plastic logos, since it comes with a cleaning cloth for OCD characters like me.

A number of online comments concerned the treble of the 8400's - many people described it as "rough" and fatiguing, and there are some frequency graphs out there that showed a somewhat messy high frequency response. Other than that these KRK’s are good, there isn’t much bad to say about them, but they don’t really excel in anything either. Thanks to clever design by KRK's engineers, the KNS 8400 Headphones feature rotating earcups, making them perfect for one-sided DJ headphone mixing or for comfortable recording sessions.A new standard in headphone comfort, even over extended periods of use, designed to avoid feeling uncomfortable especially during long periods of use. I bought them and they are about as good as the ATH-50's were, except less the headband is indeed uncomfortable, but the pads are moreso than the 50's. To repair the inner wire with these seems like a stupid configuration with holes etc the wire has to go through and still withstand friction from hard plastic pivoting on it.

Stereo image not as good as with Beyerdynamics at least with low voltage USB audio interface without designated amp. Whether you are listening to some tracks, or tracking your next recording, the KNS8400 gives you the famous KRK sound independent of your monitors. My ONLY complaint is the headband, I wish the padding was more evenly distributed (to distribute the weight of the headphones) rather than designed to where it creates two distinct pressure points. Having "One Voice" that consistently gives you accurate reproduction of your music or mix will help you achieve just what the artist intended—especially if the artist is you.If you’ve ever felt a need for a clear, crisp and virtually distortion-free reference of your mix — don’t look any further. The KNS 6402 has a very clear mid-range, reasonably subdued higher frequencies and not too much bass. In essence, they sound pretty good, and are certainly better tuned for mixing, mastering or general listening.
