Glen Grant 1955/2012 (40%, Gordon & MacPhail, Glen Grant Collection, licensed bottling, first fill sherry butt, cask #833, 484 bottles) - 050917 JM: The Glen Grant has not released a lot of cask-finished expressions. There was a Port cask finished from The Glen Grant a few years ago that was a distillery exclusive. There are also some expressions from the 1980s, like the Director’s Reserve, that, I believe, showed some Sherry influence. Are there other cask-finished expressions from The Glen Grant? Are you planning more cask-finished whiskies in the future? The 21 YO is the first Sherry-influenced expression added to the core range in recent years. Rumor has it that there is a lot of Sherry matured whisky in the bottling queue at The Glen Grant. What Sherry, either cask finished or matured, expressions can we expect from The Glen Grant in the future?

Glen Grant 31 yo 1965/1996 (58.4%, Signatory Vintage for USA, cask #5849, sherry, 176 bottles) - by Angus - 040120 Palate: Syrupy body. A moderate tongue burn is followed by deeply sweet marshmallow, vanilla cake frosting, melted ice cream, and chewy fruit-flavored candy (gummy bears?). Below the sweet notes there is a foundation of malty cereal grains and plain oak.Glen Grant 65 yo 1956/2021 (55.9%, Gordon & MacPhail, Connoisseurs Choice, LMDW 65 Anniversary, first fill sherry butt, cask #4451, 100 bottles) - 231221 Whiskybase B.V. is the Dutch private limited liability company, having its statutory seat in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and its office at Zwaanshals 530, 3035 KS Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Whiskybase B.V. is registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under no. 52072819. Under the deft hand of Master Blender Rachel Barrie, all three Brown Forman Distilleries, GlenDronach, Benriach and Glenglassaugh, have shown dramatic improvement in the quality of their whisky ranges. In 2021, they took home 13 Double Gold medals for their single malt Scotch whiskies. There are many outstanding Master Blenders in the Scotch whisky industry, but Barrie is rapidly showing she is in a class of her own! DM : The wood of the cask has a fundamental influence on the final character of the spirit, which has matured within it, so it’s not a decision I take lightly. For this reason, the quality of the wood selection is crucial and a testament to how high quality sits in the creation of our whiskies.

Made by Dennis Malcolm, the longest serving Master Distiller in Scotland (he was born at Glen Grant Distillery in 1946) it’s end-to-end uncompromising, full-bore Champion whisky; milk chocolate and malt on the nose, followed by big, gristy brown sugar melting in your mouth with spiced pear and apricot jam, and a long lingering finish of soft fruit and walnut biscuit. Maybe he truly just loves Glen Grant. Could be. I don’t understand it personally if so, because I’ve had a number of recent Glen Grant expressions and have never been particularly impressed by them. But hey, we all have our favorite distilleries. So let’s take a look at what is supposedly the world’s best scotch in this Glen Grant 15 review. Glen Grant 15 Review (Batch Strength 1st Edition) With the launch of The Glen Grant® Dennis Malcolm 60 th Anniversary Edition, we celebrate and pay tribute to the career of a true Scottish gentleman and globally recognized Scotch Whisky craftsman. Dennis has not only created some of the most-awarded single malts in the world, but also serves as an unwavering champion for the industry. His unrelenting passion for consistent quality in everything he creates is revered on the world's stage by connoisseurs, collectors and aficionados. Dennis even hand-bottled these decanters!" remarks Bob Kunze-Concewitz, Campari Group CEO. "We are honored to work beside such a legend. This refined, remarkable liquid is a luxurious homage to a life spent doing what he loves most."

In terms of special limited-release offerings, the release of our 60-year-old single malt Scotch whisky in 2021 was the oldest, to date, distillery bottling in its 181-year history – and the response was incredible. We continue to see Scotch whisky connoisseurs and even newcomers to the category delighted by the flavors that rise from more complex maturation and the most exclusive expressions of the spirit. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the remainder of the Terms shall continue in full force and effect. The Glen Grant's story began in 1840, in Rothes, Speyside – Scotland's premier region for Whisky production; by brothers John and James Grant. Still produced in Rothes today, The Glen Grant holds a range of prestigious industry awards and is world renowned for its consistent quality across its aged variants. The elegant and seductively smooth taste for which The Glen Grant is famous is the result of the innovative tall slender stills and revolutionary purifiers that James 'The Major' Grant, son of founder James Grant, was one of the first to introduce over a century ago. Still used to this day, this lasting legacy continues to distinguish the brand. Vanilla extract. Malty. A bit floral, with rose pedal. Fruity and fresh. Citrus, especially tangerine. White grapes. Coffee beans covered in dark chocolate. Cereal grains. Fresh mint. A bit restrained and light overall. Palate Thoroughly mediocre. Hard to believe this is a 15 year old whisky, it tastes much younger. Even harder to believe this is the best whisky Scotland has to offer. The texture is nice, but that’s about all this dram has going for it. There are some interesting tasting notes, but they’re drowned out by the artificial sweetener and white grape juice, which I don’t care for. Plus I’m not a big fan of overly herbal whisky, and this is quite herbal (which is fairly typical for Glen Grant). There’s also the problem of too much menthol. I like a bit of menthol when it’s well balanced by other notes, but here it’s too much.Glen Grant 1950/2007 (40%, Gordon & MacPhail, Glen Grant Collection, licensed bottling, hogshead and sherry butt, casks #853+2734, 668 bottles) - 050917
