The Nike Metcon 6 looks an awful lot like the Nike Metcon 5. What are the differences? The 6 has a super-breathable upper, and a few minor style changes. That said, it is definitely an improvement. For example, and using the same exercises above, start the timer and complete 10 weighted squats. If that takes you 20 seconds, you’ll have 40 seconds to rest. At the 1-minute mark, complete 10 pushups, then use the remainder of that minute to rest before starting on lunges. Summary But a metcon workout doesn’t require such high intensity to be considered metcon. In short, both HIIT and Tabata workouts are considered metcons, but not all metcons are considered HIIT or Tabata. The Metcon 6’s come with hyperlift inserts, to put under the insole under the heel to assist with mobility and stability when squatting with weights. The Nike Metcon 6 is a great training shoe whether you are doing a CrossFit WOD, a functional fitness workout, or just bodybuilding in the gym.

There are no real performance differences in the AMP line – and we’ve tested all of these shoes ourselves. The Trainer+ takes the great aspects of the NOBULL Trainer and upgrades them to make the shoe even more supportive, versatile, and comfortable. When performing toes-to-bars, HSPUs, or split jerks, you can rely on the toe bumper for extra padding. A midsole EVA is also present to provide stability and cushioning. You’ll have 360-degree support and traction as well, thanks to the wider outsole and SuperFabric upper. From the side you can see the rope wrap. This is where the tough rubber sole wraps up around the shoe. Great for grip on rope climbs, and it’s super tough too. This ensures the friction from the rope doesn’t destroy the upper. I wear an 11 in just about every other Nike shoe – and shoes from other brands like Reebok, UA, etc.) For the first time ever, Nike brings FlyEase tech to the Metcon line. These have laces, but you really only have to tie them once.

When we reviewed the Metcon 5 we loved the stability underfoot (especially when lifting weights) comfortable, wide fit, durability and general aesthetics of the shoe. If there’s one part of this article that is super interesting, it’s this construction section. Compared to the Nike Metcon 6, which was super similar to the Nike Metcon 5, the Nike Metcon 7 has received pretty much a full construction overhaul. Here’s a crazy looking shoe – this is the Nike Metcon 6 X. Get crazy with the Nike Metcon 6 X. This shoe is an amalgamation of iconic elements from previous Metcon shoes. Both are just bold, unique styles – there’s no added performance features. The Nike Metcon 6 AMP is looking very plain next to this Premium. Truth be told, both are great – because they are Metcon 6s. Nike Metcon 6 Premium Versus Nike Metcon 6 AMP One thing you’ll realise straight away when doing a workout in the Metcon 6 is just how great the traction of the outsole is. Having so much rubber under your feet helps but the almost completely shape of the outsole also helps keeping your balance, even when you’re handing heavy weights. Not a bad thing when you have a fully-loaded barbell dangling over your head.

Here’s a closeup of the upper on the Nike Metcon 6. Those giant sized perforations make this shoe very breathable. Nike Metcon 6 Mat Fraser Edition But thankfully these were followed by some subtler designs, and also a custom design should you choose to pay a slight premium.

So far we have found the most popular training shoes to be superbly fit for purpose across almost all areas, bar their weight, their wide, clumpy feel on the feet and breathability.

On top of this, I like the outsole construction that comes along with each model. The full rubber outsoles promote a solid amount of traction and the flatter toe and heel of each model really ground the foot. There’s a chrome-plated heel counter too, just like on the Mat Fraser PE. Chrome plated heel counter – just like on the Mat Fraser shoe. Note that this chrome finish will wear off with use… Let’s start with the launch edition of the shoe. What’s different in the Nike Metcon 6 as compared to the Metcon 5? Not much. The upper is the real difference. Translucent outsole with racing stripe pays homage to the 2019 Nike Metcon 5 Mat Fraser. It looks just as good here, but we’re missing Mat’s signature! I wear a Men’s Size 11 (US) in all my Nike running shoes, and in most shoes from Reebok, UA, Adidas, etc.The best cross-trainers for CrossFit will have a firmer midsole and outsole to support weight. In addition, these shoes will also have a durable outer construction to resist abrasions and wear and tear from things like rope climbs and friction from the ground. What are the most important construction features to look for in cross-trainers?
