Ideal for touring bands and artists who carry their own PA system, the DriveRack PA2 gives you the best sound possible at each and every gig. Quickly and easily setup your PA system for optimized sound with the dbx DriveRack PA2 Loudspeaker Management System.Updated Wizards make initial setup easywhile ensuring speaker tunings and other settings are up-to-date. I know that not everyone swears by it, but it’s been my get–out–of–jail–free option on many occasions, and I like the flexible way these new Dbx units work, and I certainly like the new user interface. Finally, to make this experience even more friendly, dbx lets you do all of this from the front panel of the DriveRack PA2 or from your mobile device of choice.

When doing output phase matching, I've used my iPhone and iPad at the same time because the phase inversion button and the alignment delay slider aren't on the same view in the app.It "listens" to your room via RTA mic (not included), analyzes it, and sets the appropriate speaker levels and room EQ. Buggy, with the graphs for crossover and EQ not working, limiter settings were completely invisible behind a graphics glitch - absolutely useless and out of the question.

I was able to pick up the DBX PA2 on sale and thought I'd try it out for what some thought was a very unusual and crazy application. I’m in the process of building up a new rig for larger indoor functions, which has to work for bands, conferences and A/V, and I will seriously consider putting three AFS2 units in there for monitors — the one thing my current digital mixer doesn’t have is feedback suppression! If the Setup Wizard's help is required you don't have to rub a lamp or incant anything, you simply press the big red illuminated button labelled 'Wizard' and all the magic is there at your command. Configuring which outputs are enabled can only be done through the Wizard, which takes away half of the handling stars.Ease of use and quick setup is a big feature of the PA2, and I think it's also a major step forward from the old model. DI Box Functionality - It actually has a +4dbu/-10dbv switch for balanced/unbalanced input signal and a Ground/Lift knob on its back. The three types are described as speech (the widest setting), music (much narrower) or ‘music/speech’, which is of course somewhere in between and offers a good compromise. I'm running my Venu360 via AES (main) outputs from the OktoDAC, so that should take the A-D part of it out of the equation.

The AFS2 can apply filters in three width settings, according to what the audio material contains and/or the severity of the feedback problems being addressed. The other thing I noticed about using the AFS2 was that even at volumes well below the feedback threshold, using it made the PA sound better, as all the worst excesses of the room response had been filtered and the result was a cleaner, clearer output. The PA2 incorporates an automatic feedback suppressor (AFS), which can detect the onset of audio feedback at any particular frequency and then quickly apply a very sharp notch filter to attenuate it.The candidates - Behringer DCX2496, Digisynthetic DS24, Phonic i2600, dbx DriveRack PA2 and finally the t. I like to have a feedback processor available for every job I do, in the same way as I like to have extra sets of batteries and every kind of mains power adaptor — I may not use them every time, or even all that often, but every so often a situation will arise where that extra capability can make all the difference between a horrendous, stress–filled experience and a successful result. You can now take complete control of the DriveRack PA2 with your mobile device or laptop using Ethernet control via an Android, iOS, Mac, or Windows device. Over the years I have tended to make much use of automatic feedback processors, as I find them a convenient and effective solution in the varied nature of live work I take on, and I’ve installed and specified them for a number of clients, who have always been delighted with the results. A dual input–level meter indicates five levels from ‘signal present’ up to digital zero (max), with a clip segment above that.
