This year, they've unveiled a revamp that tips its hat back to Marshall's roots: say hello to the Black and Gold series! Tip- what ever you do don't put your wah in the case with the rest ;) The pedal takes some getting to know, but for quick effects changes it's not as good as using a normal channel changer or a effects pedal (there seem's to be a tiny delay in the channel change? All the amps in this range are fitted with an emulated headphone output to make silent practice easier than ever. That's why Marshall designed the Gateway app, to give you more control and flexibility over their sound so you can really dig deep and precisely craft the best sounds.

With its potent EL34 power stage, this amp head is ideally suited to use in the rehearsal room and on stage, but can also be used in the living room by lowering the output power to as little as five watts. By using the tilt control you can blend your sound between normal and high treble to access the sound that suits you.Using the Tilt control, the sound just went from woolly to ear-piercingly shrill with nothing in between that I liked.

The Marshall MG50GFX is a 50 watt 1 x 12 inch guitar amp combo with 4 programmable channels and digital effects.

Some will complain about the lack of a built in reverb, but we all know that built in reverbs are usually lame (either DSP or "faux spring") if you want a spacier sound, just plug your best reverb in the effect loop and there you go. This particular model (50C Combo) has a three stage output 1 watt, 10 watt and 50 watt powered by the classic Marshall 12AX7 and EL34 combination of valves, it’s so handy to have the use of one watt for playing at home and recording.

The tube amplifiers of company founder Jim Marshall († 2012) have been writing Rock music history since 1962 with names like Pete Townshend, Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Clapton.

The phone out is also a line out, you can send the resulting signal with FX to an audio interface without any noise.

It does let you reproduce the sound of many famous hard-rock groups, but sorry, I didn't quite like it.I play an Epiphone Les Paul Standard and Squire Strat Classic Vibe, both sound fantastic through this amp. These stacks have been seen behind countless rock legends over the years, from Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Van Halen, The Who, and many, many more. In addition, the Tilt control allows you to blend in a second, more treble-rich voice with the normal one, which was achieved on the classic 1987 and 1959 models by bridging the inputs.
