Description

Children can learn and discover about growing and cultivating their own crystals. The kit contains all children need to grow different colours and types of crystal with 17 different experiments.

Children will love performing 80+ safety-tested, themed experiments, all clearly planned and set out within the detailed instruction manual. The booklet gives through explanations so it is great for filling in exactly why reactions happen and what is being learnt during each experiment. British weather is always so unpredictable. Some days, there can be strong winds with rain and other days can be just calm and cold. Why not get this fun 5-in-1 weather station for your garden and record the details for yourself? Learn how to measure these conditions like a true meteorologist. As you can see from my photo, this is a well-equipped set that comes with a glass beaker, glass conical flask, glass stirring rod, cork stoppers, filter papers, indicator papers, measuring spoon, test tube and many more! The chemicals come in child-safe bottles and are also sealed with foil. Children may need adult help to remove the protective seal and open the bottles. We found the instruction leaflet a little confusing and unclear in places. It lists equipment that isn’t used under some experiments, mentions colouring colours (red) that aren’t included and give ratio proportions that conflict with previously stated amounts. But we muddled through and had fun and tended to get some form of crystal growthThere is a range of experiments in the booklet from easy all the way up to more complex. I did try to get E to start with the basic and build on it but she was adement she want’d to do the shaped crystals first. So I read through the instructions with her before she got started to make sure she knew what she needed to do and then assured her I would simply supervise as she was very keen to give it ago on her own and as she is 10 and the age on the kit is 10+ I felt she would be capable. Your details will be passed to Science Mad, but will not be passed onto any third parties by ET Speaks From Home.

E was supposed to leave the crystal solution stand for four to five days so it could evaporate. She kept a close eye on them daily so she could see the changes. After five days she could see that all the liquid had evaporated so she tried to remove the crystals from the shaped containers. Unfortunetly the ones in the shaped containers had evaporated too much and the crystals did not keep their shape when removed. E was disappointed but was glad she had lef the remaining mixture in the bigger mixing pot. When she removed it she was thrilled to see the formed crystals and proudly put it on the display stand. End result – Crystals formed. The really great thing that stands out about the Science Mad! collection of products is that it offers kids real scientific equipment and enables them to use real kits with working features. Additionally, mixing saturated solutions isn’t an exact science. So there is a little trial and error required, especially regarding the amount of water required (you sometimes need a little more than stated. And the crystal structures can be quite fragile, especially when not fully grown (still liquid solution left) so care is needed when moving them about. This tabletop planetarium is suitable for ages eight and above. It is lightweight and easy to use. It requires four AA batteries for the planetarium and two AA batteries to operate the pointer, which are not included in the box. The pointer shines a red light, which is perfect to show your little one what you are looking at. It comes with a spare bulb for your planetarium. Children can learn and discover about growing and cultivating their own crystals. The kit contains all children need to grow different colours and types of crystal. The detailed instruction booklet contains fascinating experiments and explains how crystals were formed when the gases the Earth is made from cooled, millions of years ago. This is a great rainy day activity to do with my children. Ms C is yet to learn about acids and alkalis at school so this is a great opportunity to show her! Positioned next to the rain gauge, there are the integrated compass and thermometer. The compass can be used with the wind direction arrow to see which direction the wind is blowing. The thermometer measures temperature in both degrees Celsius and Fahrenheit. These are great quality Science kits for older kids of age 10+ who would like to go deeper into scientific experiments and offer a brilliant opportunity for kids to be able to do just that. Kids can discover the wonders of chemistry with this well-equipped laboratory set with an excellent selection of 10 different chemicals. It includes a real methylated spirit burner to help when learning about the fascinating chemical reactions involving heat. Children will love performing 80+ safety-tested, themed experiments, all clearly planned and set out within the detailed instruction manual. The Science Mad! 30mm Telescope is fun and easy to use, allowing young explorers to discover the world around them. Lightweight and portable, for all those trips and adventures, this starter telescope uses optical glass lenses to provide a useful 15x magnification, making the world appear that much bigger, and in more exciting detail. The Planetarium has several settings, one is simply light, this turns on the light and lights up the constellation on the walls and/or ceilings. The other settings rotates the globe and has sound.

The Science Mad range of science toys offers kids real scientific equipment and kits, with real working features. The kits guide children (and the adults who are supervising them ) through fun experiments in the fields of chemistry, physics, electronics and more! By entering, you are agreeing that your forename and last initial (Facebook profile) can be shared on the Gleam application if you are drawn as the winner. The detailed instruction booklet contains fascinating experiments and explains how crystals were formed when the gases the Earth is made from cooled, millions of years ago. You get some different shaped cardboards included which allow you to grow and train your crystals into different shapes, like grow a real crystal into the shape of a tree – how cool is that! With these Night Vision Goggles, kids will discover a different world at night! Light-weight and hands-free, they’re the perfect accessory for exciting missions and adventures! The blue-tinted lenses and bright LED light beams, offer a good view of one’s surroundings in the dim and dark. Kids can even concentrate their night vision with the flip-out scope and 2X magnifying lens.

As you all know I love anything that is educational. Anything that really sparks the boys interests in a fun and exciting way is always a winner with me. So when we were given the opportunity to try out some of the Science Mad range, I said yes. Using these kits, children are guided through fun experiments in the fields of chemistry, physics, electronics and more. I also learned a few things while supervising, so it is fun for the whole family and definitely a brilliant way of exploring hands on learning for kids who have a natural curiosity for Science and a thirst for exploring and gaining knowledge.

BUT even though there were some grey areas in our understanding and results we really enjoyed growing our crystals and the successful ones really were quite stunning! This week, we’re joined by Trends UK, the makers of the brilliant Science Mad! collection to get serious about science! Alternatively, keep reading to find out how you can win two great products from the range. What’s up for grabs?
