Pythor comes with a really elaborate staff, which blends several elements together, with a new crystal sword piece holding it together. The crystal sword element is really cool – one of the more awesome LEGO weapons introduced, mostly because its trans-pink. After taking a semester off to revisit the core of Ninjago: Mechs, Dragons and Vehicles and Temples, we now find ourselves looking at sets related to the 15th season: Crystalized. I am excited to have been received the sets from this wave to review, as there are some great looking sets in this wave. Ninjago, along with the Monkie Kid, hold special appeal to me as being the spiritual successors to both Classic Castle and Classic Space.

It’s a far cry from the usual instruction manual design, which is normally quite vibrant and reflective of the box art. Fans will be delighted to add Oni Garmadon into their collection, and the primary antagonist of the Ninjago franchise does not disappoint in his demon-mask outfit.

Summary

We add a hatch to the top of the cabin, and it remains accessible to a minfigure. As you can see in the second picture above, there are control levers for the pilot to use. A new season of Ninjago (Season 15: Crystalized) is coming up, and with it, a massive wave of sets coming in Summer 2022. The release dates of Ninjago Crystalized are split up, with the UK and Europe getting the sets in June 2022, and the US, Canada and Australia getting the sets 2 month later in August. An even better match, though, is with the 71765 Ninja Ultra Combo Mech. They see almost eye-to-eye, and since Nya isn’t part of the Ultra Combo Mech squad, you can have all five core ninjas “in play” with these two at the ready.

Here’s a look at Garmadon’s face beneath his Oni Mask. These Oni Masks are some of the best Ninjago accessories ever created, and I’m stoked to see them make a return. We don’t know a lot about the crystalline foes of this season of Ninjago yet, but man, they sure look cool. Well, if you ignore that exposed grey Technic pin in the middle of its head. I would have really liked to see that hidden by 1×2 plates or something. Keepability [3] – As a Ninjago Mech, this is absolutely one to collect, especially with the great minifig lineupNya’s Samurai X mech, as the name suggests, is fashioned after a heavily-armoured Samurai, and it delivers in spades, thanks to the generous armour plating across the body, especially around the shoulders, and legs, taking inspiration from Samurai armour.

For seasoned mech builders, the build was fairly straight forward, starting with the head and upper body, followed by the legs, and the arms to finish it off. The beast is scaled well to interact with the Ninjas at a minifigure-level, although do they seem a bit outmatched. Maybe that will change in a bit… Many versions of Samurai X Nya have been released since the character's introduction during 2012, always featuring red armour, while P.I.X.A.L.'s incarnation was predominantly dark blue. This dark azure minifigure is therefore unusual, but looks marvellous.
