Make sure everything is dry, then take a wet brush and begin scrubbing away at those worn areas with a wet brush. We’re going to be going through several methods for painting rust in this article, so we’ve organised the paints, washes, and other similar things you’ll need into this table below: Product So, there we have it. Four (well, five if you count the optional extra step at the end of our guide) different ways to create realistic rust effects on miniatures.

This colour is a medium to light green with a warm olive hue, it’s quite similar to Elysian Green or old Camo Green, but a nuance more greenish, though not as green as Skarsnik Green. For shading, I’d use Orruk Flesh contrast paint thinned with Contrast Medium, or Military Shader Wash from The Army Painter. For highlights, I’d probably use Nurgling Green or add successive amounts of Ionrach Skin. Ogryn Camo might work, but would make the highlights quite yellowish. The opacity is on average for a base paint, I needed about two to three slightly thinned coats for solid coverage. The only time I feel alive is when I'm painting. Vincent Van Gogh

Color Charts As with Method 1, this product still needs to be shaken until your arms hurt, so grab that pot and shake it until there are tears in your eyes and you’re begging to be allowed to stop. Then, shake it for another ten minutes. Step 3 – Corrosion Once your model is primed and ready to go, cover some of the areas with Citadel’s Typhus Corrosion.

You thought shaking your can of Retributor Armour or Leadbelcher spray was bad? This stuff is a thousand times worse.

Cover the model in AK Worn Effects Acrylic Fluid. We used an airbrush for this, but you can use a regular brush too. Step 7 – Add Colour Use Baneblade Brown to paint the hair, beard, Sebastian the hedgehog’s face, trousers, front boot fur trim and the panel on the bag. Highlight thehair, beard, Sebastian the hedgehog’s face, trousers, front boot fur trim with Karak Stone. Orks: Mournfang Brown is a great choice for painting Ork armor and machinery, as it provides a solid base coat for the various greens and blues that are used to paint Ork skin and clothing. The brown color also works well for painting the rusty, battle-worn appearance of Ork guns and tanks. Typhus Corrosion is designed to be used as a rust effect itself, and is commonly used by painters to add rust-like weathering to models . If you want a more extreme texture, you could always try using something like Agrellan Earth or Agrellan Badland Step 4 – BrownThe result is a very stark model that stands out on the table top, especially against a lighter themed base & table. Olive Vest Sections: VMA Medium Olive washed with Nuln Oil, rehighlighted with Medium olive, then highlighted with Medium Olive mixed with a touch of whatever light color was handy on my palette. In this case I think I used the Khaki from the other vest sections. Nurgling Green– Air Paint: This is a dark green color that can be used to create a variety of different effects, such as highlighting and shading. It can be used to create a sense of contrast and depth in your miniature painting, and it is perfect for creating the effects of moss and lichen on the mournfang brown base coat. Now, Dirty Down’s Rust Water Soluble Paint looks great by itself. But it’s a very clever paint, and you can achieve some very clever and realistic effects with it by using just a few techniques. The first is to simply add a few small drops of water to some select areas of the miniature. Coat D'Arms match the OLD citadel colours (pre-1992) so there might be some difference. Shining gold has the most noticeable difference,

P3 Paints did not really match very closely with the old GW range, but a detailed explanation of each paint can be found here: http://www.brushthralls.com/pre-painting-prep/color-theory-10p3.html I get it. Your arm is tired. I’m running out of shake-related songs. But the rust demands sacrifice, so get shakin’. Step 4 – Mixing Work this into your drybrush of choice and then apply it across the texture of your miniature using slightly circular, rotating motions. I’ll demonstrate two examples of my technique on differently shaped surfaces to give a sense of how to approach LMM. The Werewolf of Paris, written in 1933 by Guy Endore, is a classic of the genre and was out of print for like 50 years. Most P3 Paints do not match closely with the old GW range, but a detailed explanation of each paint can be found here: http://www.brushthralls.com/pre-painting-prep/color-theory-10p3.html
