One thing that struck me was the mention of the Women’s Institute – after reading Jambusters, I know how formidable the WI is and I immediately grasped its importance in village life. Listen in as she takes six different people on a career change journey to help them figure out what work they would really love to do and create a plan of how to make that career change happen.

Pringle stories are repeats from other Fairacre books, but I enjoyed the snippets about her childhood and young adulthood.This was less successful than most of the other books for me because it was a rehash of all the Mrs. Desperate for an income, Cora becomes a séance-performing spiritualist and gets a taste for celebrity—and it's so delicious. Traces the life of the village school cleaner Maud Pringle - a much-loved character in Miss Read's Fairacre novels. Delightful, unlikable Cora Pringle is a self-centered social-climber lacking any empathy or awareness-yet.

Lydia is the favourite child of Marilyn and James Lee; a girl who inherited her mother's bright blue eyes and her father's jet-black hair.I can't say I liked Cora that much, although she was an interesting mix of selfishness, impetuosity and naivety. He was a friendly soul, and the vicar soon became grateful to him for his ease with figures and his willingness to straighten out some church accounts which had become sadly entangled by our highly literate, but completely innumerate, vicar.
