Not even enough power for my husband to smell it, and the scent had vanished completely after 2 hours, smashing my wrist into my face delivered exactly no smell. Tania Sanchez in The Guide says it's an imaginary tropical flower, and I am all for imaginary flowers, but really, this smells totally synthetic. Just thought I would see if anyone else was having the same issues with vintage Estee Lauder Perfumes going bad. The only other perfumes which to me do smell a lot of berganot are Carolina Herrera for women and Amarrige, although bergamot is not listed alomngst this last one's notes.actually i am wondering, having tested this twice now, that the perfume is indeed the pot at the end of this very loud rainbow in plastic Ponyville. Beyond Paradise, housed in an appealing colour gradient bottle, is a sumptuous, abstract floral bouquet - rich, high-quality and timelessly elegant. The new version (in the sleek rectangular bottle) triggers the same feelings--Beyond Paradise is like a tropical rainforest or a greenhouse where a thousand flowers bloom--it is wet and uplifting and transparent and puts me in a good mood. It's a heavier scent - there's both a creaminess that comes with white floral fragrances and I get ALOT of honeysuckle, too.

I have had a mostly full bottle of this in the refrigerator for several years, and tonight I decided to give it another try--I like it much better now, and I don't know why I didn't care for it before. BP has a richness that underlies the florals, not exactly skank but something not entirely good girl, either. It is one of those scent you capture on a woman passing by, a flowery, green whiff of distant, exotic lands which keeps you wonder what, what on earth she's wearing? If you’re looking for something to wear on the plane to Hawaii that won’t be too challenging to your fellow passengers this is it.For me, BP evokes the image of a benevolent rainforest sprite flitting through the canopy on gleaming dragonfly wings.
