Description

Rhinox Hide is a versatile colour that works well on a variety of miniature palettes, making it a valuable addition to any miniature painter’s collection. Eye lenses – paint the full lens in Kantor Blue, then leaving an edge of blue, paint Blue Horror inside. You’ll need Citadel’s Gryph-hound Orange and some Contrast Medium. Thin the Gryph-hound Orange with a little medium to create a muddy orange colour. Take some time to make sure all the areas you don’t want to be covered with skin colours are fully masked. Again, this step doesn’t matter so much if you’re using regular brushes. How to Paint Imperial Fists Step 6 – Painting Faces, Part 1 If you’re painting a Fafnir Rann model of your own, we’ll paint the hair now. If you’re just painting standard helmeted Imperial Fists, skip this step.

Focus the contrast paint into those recesses on Fafnir Rann’s hair to build up a good shade. How to Paint Imperial Fists Step 19 – Gloss Varnish Highlight flesh with thinned Citadel Death Guard Green and the off-white areas with Citadel Karak Stone.

Oh, look, now we have a gradient on the models. This could be airbrush shading, recess shading. You could add mud splatters to the bottom, or slap some weathering powders there. The key is that each layer enhances the layers below it. In this case, the fade gives depth and variation to the chips, and dirties up the transfers, making them more interesting.

Paint the red areas with Citadel Contrast Flesh Tearers Red. Drybrush the cloth with VGC Blue Grey. Fire Dragon Bright, at the very sharpest corner of the inner edges of the eyes, lowest corner of a round lens While I use paints from a bunch of different ranges, Citadel Colour still makes up the majority of my collection. Whether you’re painting Warhammer armies, your Dungeons & Dragons character or the miniatures from your favourite board game, you can’t go too far wrong with them. Paint the wood and any straps with Citadel Contrast Wyldwood and any ropes/bandages/feathers with Citadel Wraithbone.

First things first: In this post, we talk only about acrylic mediums used for thinning washes like Citadel Shade paints or diluting ink-like paints like Contrast and Speedpaint. There are also a lot of other acrylic mediums that make your paint more matt, more glossy, more transparent or prolong the drying time, but these are not the point today. Are you interested in other acrylic mediums? Then drop me a comment and I’ll see what I can do in a future post or video.
