If it wasn’t good enough getting a new release of ‘Powertrippin’’, then Disc Two is a fantastic gift, albeit a bit puzzling. Also, with prescient timing, original guitarist Tantrum left the band, to be replaced by former Alice Cooper guitarist Pete Friesen, who was also enamoured of drop D tunings. It was a match made in heaven (with one eye on Seattle). However, the expanded addition features an excellent fully illustrated booklet, complete with detailed liner notes from Malcolm Dome, based on interviews with the band.

By mid-2005 bassist Floyd London had won an unpublicised fight against Lukemia which brought the band together to play once again. The classic lineup reformed for two Lukemia Research benefit shows in January 2006, which was followed by a Headline appearance at the 2006 Bulldog Bash, then a short 5-date tour at the end of December 2006. There are plenty of gems of which the demo of Free ‘N’ Easy from Soul Destruction stands up nicely albeit in rougher form and the B-sides that perhaps deserved a bit more, particularly Insomnia, which is another of those two and a half minute blasts of energy. This release features a fully illustrated booklet, complete with detailed liner notes from Malcolm Dome based on interviews with the band. Most Almighty fans will already have this is their collections and it’s as good as you remember, maybe even better. The production, courtesy of Mark Dodson (Judas Priest, Suicidal Tendencies) is brilliant – crystal clear and full-bodied, while the band are playing better than they ever had, energised by their new sound and guitarist. Everything seemed to fall into place at the right time. In February 2007 a Greatest Hits CD/DVD Anthology: The Gospel According To… was released with the full support of the band, this was followed in July 2007 with a live DVD of the Glasgow Lukemia Research show from January 2006. This album represents The Almighty at their best. Always Wild and Wonderful, Free ‘N’ Easy and they will never be Out Of Season.

The last of the trilogy was perhaps the most diverse album with feel closer to THE CLASH and a return to some earlier punk influences. Recording of the Almighty's second studio album, Soul Destruction, began in December 1990 [8] with Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor as producer. [2] The album was released in March 1991 along with the lead single "Free'n'Easy". [5] In February and March the band toured the UK supporting Motörhead and Megadeth. [1] In June 1991 they embarked on a headline UK tour. [10] The concert at the Town and Country club in London was filmed and released later that year on VHS as Soul Destruction – Live. [11] Later in the year they supported Alice Cooper on a European tour. [12] Liddell, Mark (May 1990). "Live Review: The Almighty, The Marquee, 9th March, 1990". Riff Raff .
